Rolling for an early spook, betting on the 1% chance, or aiming for the coinflip and hoping to win it, will leave you crushed. If you are an explorationfag, you will be getting a lot of rolls with every patch, but that doesn't mean you will be getting enough to get every character that goes live. You may have to skip more characters than you want to.

I have c3 Illuga, c6 Goro and Columbina + sig and barely beat that stygian Wolf on dire by 3 seconds. I swear that wolf must be the hardest stygian enemy so far.

Occasionally you'll get a minor flaw baked into a kit that is fixed at c1 but that can often times be worked around. You're not going to convince the average player to swipe for c6 but it's a lot more tempting if the power spike constellation is reasonably within reach. This is not the same thing as a "trap" constellation though. You're better off having a diverse roster to cover as many gimmicks and mechanic checks as possible and the introduction of SO has only made that more true. Ineffa + Xilonen is better by 10-20k DPS(largely depends on your Ineffa investment) and even something like Fischl + Albedo or Chiori + Furina can pull ahead.

You see the exact same thing today with Mavuika + Citlali or Columbina + Ineffa.Team building is actually far more diverse today than it was back in the 1.x and 2.x patches due to the sheer number of niches now being covered. The only time you're arguably forced into a very narrow selection of characters is Dire SO which has additional layers of gimmick reinforcement(for example the Papilla has numerous counters in SA/IT but it borderline forces Nightsoul use in Dire difficulty.) This is content that 99% of the playerbase never even attempts so I struggle to care about the limitations of meta-driven content appealing to meta players.

You don't need to worry about having "another Nod Krai DPS unit" when you have like 1000 hours of overworld exploration to do, and any character can do fine in the overworld.Zibai doesn't even feel that strong compared to other Nod Krai DPS units - she is still Geo and Geo is still the weakest element, even with the lunar buff.
