>>732330775Are you talking about Mario the game franchise, or Mario the character?Because if you're talking the franchise, I've never found it hard to find people that say World/64/Sunshine/Galaxy/etc. is one of their favorite games of all time (Hell, my favorite Mario game is one of the spinoffs.). However, the lack of that fiery passion compared to something like the rare F-Zero fan I come across probably has to do with the consistency and saturation of the series. Kind of hard to get all hyped up about the next Mario release when you're probably going to get the next Mario [insert franchise] in a few months at most. Compare that to other Nintendo franchises where you either only get one or two games a generation (Zelda, Xenoblade, Pikmin, etc.) or you only get a crumb of acknowledgement every once in a blue moon (Star Fox, Metroid, etc.). Mario on the other hand, is always around so you never have that emotional build up to releases.If you're talking about the character, dude is literally a blank slate that just does heroic, nice guy things and says wahoo. Given that the rest of the Mario cast actually has a personality, you'd have to be one boring motherfucker to say that Mario is your most liked character.
