The only really deficient thing about these kinds of games is that the level geometry wasn't advanced enough to make truly lived-in locations, a generation later when that started to get commonplace you always got wowed seeing little houses and shit. Hell even douk 3d was like that. I feel lile sprites are also good for fops because they're designed with perfect readability in mind, they don't have to contend with lighting or weird angles
