It feels like doing a chore rather than playing a video game, and it doesn’t make me feel “smart” either.
Grats, you don't have assburgers. Now go play a game that is actually fun.
>>732347514>it doesn't make me feel "smart"Yeah cause that's not possible.
>>732347514If you don't find pleasure in solving little problems then the game simple isn't for you, just play something else
>>732347514Heh, try battlefield 6, it might be more up your alley
>>732347514>no intellectual stimulation from the act of buildingsad
>factorio threadhow are your factories going anons!my dumbass overexpanded so much without actually considering biters that my mining outposts and smelters are constantly raped by biters. I am trying to solve this by purging the nests whenever i can + building lasers. But god they are destroying things so fast and im cockblocked from doing research for now. I really did overkill smelters for every basic material it's like 500 electro furnaces for each
Skin issue.
>>732347514I just have fun with it and I'm functionally retarded
>>732348250I lost interest in playing after automating space science and before going to a second planet
i'm not falling for it again
agreed. captain of industry is a far superior refinement of the formula.
>>732348250I can't get a decent setup for nuclear power running and I don't want to look up blueprints because that feels like cheating.
>>732350287i use blue prints for every starter thingthen when i want to build actual factory i build stuff myself
>>732350287setup for what? just read the tooltipsit makes a buttload of power you don't need to worry about minmaxing or ratios
>>732350969This
>>732348982I played COI and got filtered cause I couldn't figure out how to actually connect things together.
>>732348250Finally set up a small Aquilo base and researched some stuff, now to make a final platform and leave this shithole behind. Maybe try to get a few legendary things first like perhaps railguns.
I just vibe everything. If i see that there isn't enough plastic to feed the red chips i just make more plastic. ??? Over production does not matter as you can limit chest size and machines don't use much power when they are not in use. Must be miserable to try calculate everything beforehand and be cucked by wiki.
>>732352508you literally have a website that does all the hard work with calculating lol i would get bored if i played just by "vibes"
>>732352669That is incomprehensible to me. "Hard work" as in playing the game ???
>>732350969I ran out of water once because i tried to feed too many heat exchangers with one offshore pump
>>732352885kirkmcdonald google that and see for yourself
>>732347813If you main bus then you don't really have any problems; just bottlenecks that are so easy to fix that the game just becomes a chore like OP said.
>>732348250My modest and soulful Gleba base got destroyed by niggerbugs. When I return it will be with a shipload of towers, artillery, bots, and a constant stream of anything I want from other planets to build a giant square of death. Apparently this is what needs to be done and no fun is allowed in this shitty game. Fair enough. TWD, TSD, TND
>>732348250Just getting to yellow science, and recently cleared out a bunch of biter bases near my main base, so now my main base is doubling in size.>Had a lot of fun rolling around in my tank with my defender capsules waging war on the local populace>Now have flamethrower turrets along with machine gun turrents along the walls,>Need to clean up all the under belt spaghetti>Trying to have solar energy run during the day and boilers at night, but can't seem to get power switches and accumulators to work together.Fuck it now I'm just gonna play the game. I don't have space age or none of that, I'm still just fucking around with base game stuff and only just recently figured out how to transport fluids and such. I know my base is shit but it works.
>>732353147>>732353236You are making it chore. You are using wikis and calculators to have solutions for every problem. Its a chore, as you read how you do something and just build it. There is no failure, there is no accomplishment, no discovery or learning. Whats the point of puzzles if you check solitions, or adventure game where you spoil the map and locations. You can do anything you want, but you are retarded to complain that you don't get any fun that way.
>>732353902Boilers automatically turn off during the day if there's solar power. Also you can store hot steam, it's stupid and cheesy, so feel free to pretend you didn't read that.
>>732354294>Also you can store hot steamI'll have to test if the boilers go off automatically, it'd save me a ton of polution if I can cut them down like that. I thought I needed those power switch things in between the solar and bolar with conditions set.
>>732347514i found it fun at first but stopped enjoying it at oil refining, i didn't want to put in the required effort to improve my factory, but didn't want to have a suboptimal factory eitherstuck between a rock and a hard place, i quit
>>732353902Have you been able to get into Nuclear power? It was really fun using the computer stuff to optimize my nuclear reactors
>>732354526Not yet. It's probably the next step for me though after i find a way to better unify my bases.
>>732354398use 'c' to switch weapons, it looks like you're unknowingly using the pistol and not the machine gun you builtenjoy the first run it's magic, don't get too spoiled
>>732354526It's kinda trivial to do now because you can just read the reactor heat and set up the hand extracting spent fuel cells to only trigger when heat falls below like 550, since the reactor can't take a new cell until the spent cell is pulled out.And then if you have a 2xX reactor you just step up the next reactors extracting hand by 20 or 50 degrees.
Gleba killed the game.
>>732354480Did you have bots researched at that time. They make rebuilding a breeze
they just turn into idling games by the end of it
so when do these games become fun?
>open up my editor mode save to try and finish a blueprint I've been working on>end up refactoring three other unrelated blueprints insteadevery time
>>732354294steam tanks are the true accumulators >>732355791it was better before combat was added desu
>>732347514That part of Malcolm in the Middle with Hal getting sidetracked with different tasks when changing the lightbulb sums up my time in Factorio (and I love it)
>>732348250update:i killed most of the nests, the laser production started going well. Currently the bots are repairing every outpost/smelter.
>>732357906Combat is still incomplete. But don't worry, they'll probably finish it in a year or four.
>>732355791Reminds me that I need to give DSP another go. I haven't played it since before they added combat cause I heard it was unpolished as fuck. Is it any better?

>>732347514you need to be autistic to actually like this micromanaging hell
>>732347514it's ok anonhere's a ball and a stickgo play with that
>>732352898then make a 2nd offshore pump
Once you beat it, then every other run is the same unless you artificially confine yourself to meme challenges like burner inserters only. And even then it’s mostly a chore.People who say otherwise are also the people who seethe at Gleba because their neat little assburgers designs don’t work anymore.
>>732348250>K2SE+BZ2/gas/gold/nick/bobelectric/bio/all the rest + ERMI want to kill myself. It's not a compete byproduct hell like pyhard, but getting started still takes forever, especially while defending off the ERM timed strike teams
>>732359485Good thing Factorio has a nonexistant modding community then!
>>732348250Been sticking to one save since the expansion came out, playing every couple of months then taking a break again. I spent a lot of time building a massive perimeter at all the natural chokepoints into border walls, and the bugs haven’t been a problem in 180 hours. I spent 80 hours getting Vulcanus to produce everything but rocket fuel and blue chips, then maybe a dozen hours each specializing Gleba for Rocket Fuel and Fulgora for Chips. Been on aquilo for a couple hours, taking a good long time to decide on how I want the factory to operate while I stockpile platforms and get fuel sorted out. I’m mostly wondering if I can centrally heat everything and have it radiate out, or if I need to go for trains and deliver rocket fuel out to the more distant pumps to keep everything working. I’m just not sure it’ll be worth making the infrastructure to support trains just to get a rocket’s worth of science and a handful of railguns/reactors/cryolabs
>>732347514I played to a point where I have to start making trains. It's annoying because once you've established all your convader belts and you run out of minerals, there's no way to easily rearrange the conveyor belts. You have to pretty much abandon your initial starting point and go somewhere else. Unless you plan extremely far ahead you wind up getting soft locked due to lack of minerals.
>>732358410another update:purple science is done now time to do afk stuff while the research happens
>>732348250I just made it to vulcanus for the first time and now I'm stumbling to get situated.
>>732348250Trying to make biter egg delivery to promethium science platforms work better. It would be so much easier if I can send signals from platforms to a planet.
>>732348250Currently stunlocked in a way to automate landing pads unloading by my 2 wagon train setupI was thinking of a system where I would make a station making orbital requests via radar when the buffer is running low, so the radar relays it to the landing pad, which should have 2 trains worth prepared to unload on the train, and then the landing pad requests to the space platforms for a refill. Problem in this system would be, spoilables.Another big problem, which I'm trying to figure, is making sure both train buffers get exactly a wagon's worth of stuff, so there's no leftovers, but since you cant have full inserter throughput on both warehouses at the same time, you'll have to put shit on a belt, which would desync the count and eventually leave leftovers into the train buffer. I'll probably have to put a SR combinator somewhere so it doesnt try to overload the buffers while it is loading the train or something, but it's gotten hard to actually focus on anything lately after my mother passed away out of nowhere half a year ago, I've been procrastinating this for quite a long time actually, I even started this save after the expansion droppedI just really dont want to use bots for loading/unloading
Playing factorio with some japanese buxom anime girl ASMR on my headphones, is an otherwordly experience
Any good mods you guys use for SE?
