Why does nobody care about the pre-GBA games in this series
>>732354914Because they were only released in Japan.
they arent very good
They weren't 'advanced' enough.
>>732354914no sexy girls
Imagine the advance games but slower and with even worse unit balance, also stupid units like trucks
>>732354914I hate when I get into a series, find there are JAP only games, go through the effort of using a translation guide/scouring for a romhacks translation, just to find the games fucking suck.
>>732357945You can get them prepatched from myrient or cdromance.
Because they were too advanced for us.
>>732354914Famicom Wars - good for the time, kinda hard to go back. All maps from this game are in the Advance series.Super Famicom Wars - Still good but a bit slower than the advance series and less QOL features and also ALL the maps are in the advance series, also no story mode or anything.Game Boy Wars - 4 games, have never played them but developped by a different company, and it seems they play differently with the ability to attack diagonally.
>>732361243I've played the GB Wars games. The first two are similar to FW/SFW in that they're very slow, and they encourage turtle strats since units attack eachother at the same time. You don't really get any advantage by attacking first. GBW3 is neat because of how different it is from every other game in the series. It's still pretty slow paced but it has two unique systems not seen in the other Wars games. The first one is an initiative system, faster units have high iniitiative and will usually strike first and slower tankier units are usually going to attack second. This is balanced out by initiative decreasing for every tile you move, so planes can't just fly full move and bomb anti air first, the anti-air will have more initiative and get the first strike. The second system is a flanking system, units perform better when they have allies next to the enemy unit they are attacking. These new systems coupled with a hex instead of square grid make GBW3 an interesting game for AW veterans. Not everyone is going to love it, but if you're looking for something similar that still has something new to offer I'd say it's worth trying..
>>732355653>they arent very goodNot true, they were good for their time, they just aren't as good now when there are better alternatives. No nostalgia since this happened >>732355081 means no one talks about them.
>>732362235they do seem interesting, do they have a story or COs? I'm guessing they don't.I hope my lack of japanese doesn't make it difficult to enjoy.
>>732363583No COs unfortunately. They have campaigns but it's like SFW, you're just playing through a series of maps without any dialogue. GBW3 did add a story to its campaign but the only English patch I know of just translate menus to make it easier to play and the story is in Japanese.
