What's the problem with game key cards exactly? Aren't they just digital games? PC has been digital only for over a decade. The Steam Deck doesn't support physical games at all.

The whole idea with Game Key Cards is supposed to be that consumers get the benefits of a physical game (game in the form of a box and cart that they can resell) while developers don't have to shell out as much money to get a physical game produced.Game Key Cards are already inferior to normal physical games because of the games not actually being on the cart, so, really, they need to be selling consumers on other aspects of physical games to make it worth it. A cool thing to have on your shelf is one of those aspects, and good box art is the bare minimum. A big ugly banner slapped on the cover of every GKC game is the opposite of what someone who wants a cool thing to have on their shelf wants.
