I'm sure I'd be disgusted by their implementation, but the potential for monetization/long term return in investment is there. As for the main series, it'd simply be too big of an investment for the level of associated risk. The brand power wanes with every passing year.
Because Ultima was only good when Garriott was a nerd with ambitions and was lucky to be surrounded by very talented people as well. Elder Scrolls effectively replaced Ultima anyway
