Because that's what usually happens when a new console comes out. PS4 outsold Switch 1 during it's first holiday season too, yet the Switch ended up blowing the fuck out of the PS4.

Legitimately not true. Switch 2 has been in stock everywhere like a month after its release and has never run out of stock. Retailers like Amazon, Target, and Walmart were selling their new old stock at a discounted price because they couldn't get rid of them.
