Song I believe remains incredible, she's probably my favorite character to play but if you are against a boss like Lucilius who resists debuffs and paralysis she falls off hard. Lucilius is peak Relink as far as a boss fight is concerned, even the normal mode requires you to play well and gear well. Scrubs still wipe to the final 5% enrage or whatever it is. The other big quest is a marathon where you go through like 5 waves of bosses. It's a long fight so it's a bit exhausting but it's a different take on most Relink fights, since you need to play defensively. If you play well with others you can coordinate burst phases where you can basically erase a boss when it spawns if it's particularly annoying to you, so it still rewards good aggressive plays.

They all did a lot of QoL fixes to stuff in the game with upgrades and grinding that was helpful. I think it was just an obvious problem where people would have preferred more bosses, quests, and characters period. The main story of the game was far more of a standard action RPG story mode with a lot of trash mob fights between bosses and a lot more emphasis on dialogue and cutscenes.The co-op content is set up very similarly to Monster Hunter except it starts out heavy on gimmick encounters like clearing through a small area to progress to a boss or just fighting off waves of enemies and such. The farther you progress the more it becomes about bosses until the final difficulty tiers which are almost nothing but bosses.I'd say the most notable difference is that Relink allows you to get relatively far more power than Monster Hunter does. Your first time fighting certain bosses may feel like hell but as you optimize your character more it can become completely trivial even at the highest difficulty. Like in MonHun if you want to hunt Fatalis in only a few minutes you need to have a perfect set, you need every offensive consumable, you need to play perfectly and you need to know it well enough that you can almost predict what it's going to do next or at the very least keep good spacing to react to any scenario. In Relink when you go at an end-game boss with the recommended gear it may take you 20 minutes but if you grind like fuck and min/max your shit you can take that same boss down in under a minute simply because you're shitting out a fuckton of damage and you chain multiple staggers into a break into link time into a full burst and the whole time you're just wailing on this completely helpless boss who used to aggressively hold you against the ropes as you're desperately trying to survive.TL;DRThe co-op structure of the game is set up very similar to Monster Hunter or some of the old PSO quests where you have your main hub for crafting and shit then you depart into specific areas for missions with a heavy emphasis on boss fights with the big difference being the gameplay(much faster) and the level of power you're allowed to scale up to.

I'm not sure why this game NEEDED to be a forever game. I played as a single-playre experience and had a lot of fun. I think it was more than fine for the game to be a one and done. Not that I'm not excited for the expansion however.

Relink was in development hell for years and it took 8 years from its announcement, not even since it first started development, to finally launch. Since then, CyGames has been busy with much more successful games like Uma Musume and other more ambitious projects like Project Awakening and the Witch game. .GBF is an old IP at this point and showing its age. These spin-off titles came out too late to benefit from GBF's popularity. Honestly, I'm surprised CyGames is bothering to support them as they feel like they're holding CyGames back from trying to create new IPs like Uma Musume.

I just installed the game again and damn, grinding to make my AI companions stronger fucking sucks. And then supplement attack and war elemental are RNG too, I've never gotten a single one. I don't even have the ult weapons, don't even know if I can kill the juiced up proto bahamut for it with my current team. I suddenly remember why I stopped playing, this feels like a 9-5 job to play. Which is a shame because the gameplay is very fun and the fights are neat. I'll keep at it for a bit instead of giving up, for now.
