when did AAA gaming peak, in your opinion? it feels like we haven't had any real impactful, big games in like almost a decade
>frogDogshit thread
>>732366149Late PS2(Around 2005)Or mid PS3(Around 2009)AAA was definetely downhill starting early 2010s
>>732366149PS2/OG Xbox
Halo 3
why do i get the feeling that anons will just post the year from their teens when they were most into gaming and were still impressionable youths?

>>732366149I don't normally talk to frogposters, but PS2-era. (Including Dreamcast, Gamecube, and even OG XBox.) You could argue the PS360 era, but honestly a lot of PS3 games were just rehashes of PS2 games with only a handful of new, original ideas. Everything past that has mostly been copies and sequels of everything beforehand, with just shit like lootboxes and live service games being the newest "feature" to be introduced. When all the innovation involves new ways to monetize video games, it's not surprising that the actual game parts just feel like the same thing, repeated over and over.
>>732370395>>732366238why don't you like frogposters?
>>732370668It's showing you don't have any image that's topical or relevant to post regarding the topic, and generally bleeds into thoughts and discussion about the OP topic being presented as well. Most frogposters will either make a post and then never reply to anything in the thread (probably just taking the topic from someplace else to "have a successful thread") or just make such a retarded post to begin with that there's nothing worth discussing. At the very least, the topic is enough that somebody might have something to talk about. People could easily discuss whether PS2 (with its original games) or the PS360 (making online popular and related games like Halo, Journey, or Dark Souls using it) was the last high point for video games, and it would be an interesting discussion. Or even bring up other games or even other places where video games were arguably better. So I'd rather respond over just ignoring the thread, and maybe hope that OP frogposter comes up with more interesting images for the next thread.
>>732371117i am op. it was the first and best image that i saw in my folder. i thought it fit, the scholar frog is inviting you all into a discussion with the question was my idea. i didn't know frogs are frowned upon here. i'm sorry
>>732366914from the posts in this thread i'm guessing most anons here are in their 30's, i'm almost sure of it. why wouldn't it be so? you are very impressionable in your teens but you're still old enough to absorb and "get" more mature games. i am younger and my favorite era is 2010-2015-ish.
>>732366149I don't know. Never really touched AAAs. Been playing mostly indie games since the 90s.
>>732372468S'fine, there's just a lot of trolling around frogposting, both from the people making frogposts and the people replying to them. Mind you, /v/ tends to be pretty terrible for discussion these days anyway, but frog images just tend to lower the quality even further.Anyway, where do you think the AAA peak was? Or the latest peak, since you could say there were high points and drops in quality in the past as well.
>>732372803see>>732372641the elder scrolls, fallout, witcher, dragon age, assassins creed and mass effect games are among my faves.i think it peaked around the ps4 generation, because of the big jump in graphical fidelity combined with the fact that many oldhead developers were still around at these big companies who knew what they were doing. also just before wokery and these live service games had really set in
>>732366149Late 5th gen to early 7th gen. You could really feel an AAA release transform the entire gaymen landscape overnight.
