Where is my Korean War game?
>>
>>732725782
I want a ww1 survival horror game set in no mans land
>>
>Sit on a frozen mountain for a year while commie faggots delay peace negotiations
Sounds fun
>>
>>732725941
The initial push and pushback were cool. I think just about any war can be made into a good game if you just focus on the most interesting battles. World at War did that quite well
>>
>>732725782
Not going to happen
MASH permanently altered the public perception of Korea and it will never be seen as something that van he presented positively.
>>
>>732725782
its smooshed inbetween vietnam and ww2. it'll never get a good game

Absolutely zero hype for IL-2 Korea but it does look impressive, at least technically.

The only ground battle I think would be interesting enough to play through would be the Battle of Kapyong, but mutts don't want to make games about Canadians and Aussies doing heroics while they run away.

Nobody under the age of 40 knows what M*A*S*H was, much less has seen it. You can present them whatever you, and they will play it. See Battlefield 1.

My dream Korean War game would do what some of the old CODs did and shift between different soldiers and have specific plane/tank missions.

I was reading about the Chinese troops crossing into North Korea, moving from camp to camp at night while hiding from UN fire. That could totally make a fun stealth mission

A good candidate for a Company of Heroes style RTS. Might be a non-starter for investors due to the unavoidable presence of China.

The US military was hugely unprepared for Korea as they hadn't quite realised they would have to be world police in a post-British world.

norks losted the war because all the heavy industry imperial japan built up there got bombed to oblivion and kim got even more power
south koreans losted the war because the country got devastated
china losted the war because they lost the chance to reclaim taiwan
americans losted the war because they wasted money and men acheiving nothing
soviets losted the war because their relations with both the west was fragmented beyond repair
the only one who won the korean war was japan, because her economy got back on track selling supplies to the US
>>

>>732739003
Honestly the only real losers of the Korean war are the Norks. China while losing the chance to take Taiwan, still managed to get what they really wanted which was a buffer state between them and a western aligned country.
>americans losted the war because they wasted money and men acheiving nothing
Not true at all. The war was a great wake up call for America and because of it the US government went back and revamped the army and all of its ground forces. Also they gained a permeant ally(South Korea) and gained a lot of knowledge about Soviet air power.
>south koreans losted the war because the country got devastated
That means nothing. South Korea won more land then they had before the war, America is now their ally, they have a far better quality of life compared to their northern counterparts(Even though it took them a while to rebuild)
>>

>America

>>
as a korean it's funny seeing americans talk about this war as if the division of the koreas is a natural configuration of the land, and not a totally artificial creation by outside powers only a few years old at the start of the war.
>>
>>732740050
Because the Chinese can spin it as a Chinese victory over the US and the west. Its a perfect war for propaganda because of the back and forth swinging of the war. Depending on what section of timeline you examine, it could look like an unstoppable victory for either side. It helps that "technically" nobody won or lost because the end result was the status-quo: Korea was still divided at the 38th parallel.

The US doesn't have much media on it (like MASH) because it wasn't as massive, glorious or involved as WW2 and then the focus shifted to things like Vietnam and the Space Race. Lots of cool emerging technology from a weird mix consisting of end of WW2 and of beginning of the jet-age. Korean War vidja could be kino.
>>
>>732740884
nobody cares about Korea is why.
>>
>>732740932
>return to status quo
that was the US/UN win state. the war started with the Soviets and North Koreans invading the South with the intent of annexing the entire peninsula under communist control. the US/UN went in to protect South Korea's sovereignty. whether the coalition troops overextended during their victory lap is irrelevant, the actual purpose of the war was to keep SK out of Soviet control and we achieved it. lost the battle, won the war.
>>
>>732740884
This applies to a lot of places on the world. Some people don't know that countries like Jordan, Lebanon, and Iraq are just arbitrary offshoots created by Europeans after ww1

The late model P-47s were also high altitude interceptors. They were incredibly expensive, maintenance intensive, and had very high fuel consumption. Furthermore their handling at low speed and low altitude is pretty dogshit.

Their use as close air support in WW2 was a matter of expediency and because the wing roots were strong enough to mount a lot of ordinance, but as a plane they're honestly terrible for CAS.

Also
>>built like a tank, impervious to rifle fire from the front
This would apply to the Il-2 or certain models of Ju-87, as they were both build with an armored "tub" around the forward fuselage (where the engine/pilot resides) to stop ground fire.

The P-47 only has a plate behind the pilot (to stop fighters tailing it) and just below the canopy (to stop tailgunners in front of it). It however has no protection against rifle fire from any other direction, and the engine and fuel tanks themselves are entirely unarmored.

>crtl-f "Theatre of War 3: Korea"
I mean, I get it.... it's a clunky platoon/company level tactical wargame, and it's not even one of the greater tactical wargames out there (I prefer Graviteam Tactics or Combat Mission, overall). But the tank combat was worth it, if all you're looking for is swarms of T-34/85s butting heads with swarms of M46 Pattons, and don't care if the infantry dynamics are clunky and not great.

They even throw in some "what-ifs" for custom scenarios, like IS-3 heavy tanks (hint if you're not a tanks guy: 90mm AP does fucking nothing from the front).

Same, year and all, so why are so angry with me?

Flight lessons aren't hard (although they're expensive... but that's an insurance thing, mostly), you can schedule one tomorrow.

you struggle with the idea of an elected president being popular because you are ruled by billionaire pedophiles

When did I say I have a pilot's license? Quit moving the goalposts: you said I never flew a plane, and I have. You don't need a license to take flying lessons, dummy... that would kind of make getting a license impossible, for hopefully obvious reasons.

Also,
>implying I would dox myself on 4chan like a retard even if I did
You can't be 34... we're not built this stupid.

I'm sorry that you've done nothing with your life in 34 years, and the idea of someone going to a regional airport to take flying lessons gobsmacks you into being this defensive. Later, pussy.

I always thought it'd be cool to see a Trauma Center-like game based on M*A*S*H (whether the TV show or generically the real life concept), with gameplay modified to fit how they have to quickly patch up lots of wounded soldiers in a row and don't have time to do everything perfect. "Meatball surgery" as they called it on the show. Could even have a triage minigame before the surgery, where you pick who seems hurt worst and goes first, and who can wait. It may be a bit morbid to some to treat dying soldiers as score, but I think it'd be interesting to treat it as a puzzle of sorts to see how many men you can save in each scenario, based on both your decisions in triage and your skill in surgery.

Americans performed demonstrably worse than their British and Canadian counterparts and got exposed by chinks and gooks after jacking themselves off for 6 years from WW2, so it stings their ego

I want a Vietnam war game where you play as the Viet Minh and boobytrap everything the invader yanks could ever think of touching with their pale greasy hands, even other booby traps.
>>
holy shit I just found out the korean war is still "ongoing"
what causes this? is it because they need a reason to stop their people from defecting to a better korea?
why is kim jong wong's family a bunch of retards? is north korea just a chinese puppet state so they can't move onto a full peace?
>>
>>732742669
Simple because instead of making niche Korean war game you can make WW2 game and everyone loves WW2 games. Korean war isn't memorable because it didn't end in victory and is technically still ongoing and it's mostly same WW2 shit but with jet fighters.
Why made Stalingrad like winter fighting in some mountains when you can make actuall Stalingrad game?
>>732743429
Same thing happened with Battles of Rzhev that was ongoing at same time as Stalingrad, despiote millions involved on both sides and heavy lossess for both sides battle ended inconclusive and neither soviets nor germans mention it. It was pointless meatgrinder and Stalingrad was happening at same time.
>>732750808
It's still ongoing because there was no peace treaty, only ceasefire, despite that both Koreas traded including SK sending food to and building nuclear reactor in NK untill NK got nukes, then SK told them to fuck off and NK got partially build reactor they can't finish and had no food left.
>why is kim jong wong's family a bunch of retards?
They are not reatrds they all have good lifes and perpetual war can justify any drastic measures.

Most kino war to make game about especially some grand strategy with startegical map with diplomacy and economy and tactical map for battles would be Iraq-Iran war. It got everything, latest cold wartoys like F-14 or T-72 and almost got Mig-29, motorized assaults, trench warfare, human waves attacks, strategic bombing, balistic missile strikes by both sides, chemical warfare including chemical bombardment on civilians, foregin involvment with sanctions, selling waepons for both sides, Israeli airstrikes in Iraq, US strikes on Iran or shit like Brits selling chemical warpon precursors to Iraq and then NBC protection equipment to Iran, or North Korea smuggling scuds to Iran. Iraq also had nuclear program and according to Israel in 1980's Iran will have nuclear weapon in 5 years.
Only thing it lacks is proper naval warfare since boths sides didn't have proper navies.

>It's called the forgotten war because we got embarrassed.
No you dumb faggot, it's call the The Forgotten war because the UN/US achieved it's goal of repelling the Koreans back across the 38th and then we moved onto the other Cold War issues like the space race and Vietnam. It was a war that has no lasting stakes in the eyes of US citizens. It wasn't like the mobilized war-economy era like WW2 and it wasn't the political quagmire of Vietnam. There was so much shit going on during the that overshadowed Korea during the 20th century.
