I do unfortunately agree. To be sure, I didn't even know what this game was before a friend got me to try it.

From a couple of hours put it I see that there will be many things future patches will most likely address, like having to go through the intro "cinematic" if you'd want to start a new game, being unable to turn off character voices or skip dialogue altogether, being able to perform actions while animations are playing (like the coin collecting or performing in-place attacks/buffs), or having something like an "incoming wind direction" icon. These are just odd decisions will be required to fix for player retention.

But the core gameplay... I'm not sure. I understand that it's supposed to be a "make the most of your situation", as is for all roguelikes, but in practice it just means you must throw shit at the wall until you amass enough progression to be able to actually do that. Understanding a boss's mechanics helps you very little when the stats you have are best utilized in a build focused for something else. The rest of the RNG like opening a ? room and getting a broke ribcage with no skill check means you know for a fact you won't be progressing to the next map, but you must do the rest of this map for food anyway. Which is another thing. None of this would be an issue if you weren't forced to engage with the game with a build you actively do not want to play, or else your cats starve.

Cat management in the base is very tedious, yes. Cycling through each cat one by one is terrible design. No clue why they don't have a table view but it's definitely coming in an update. It's an obvious huge QOL fix.
