This is the best game I’ve ever played. I’m not even fucking joking.
It's decent, but not even close to the best anything.
>>732773690it's good but doesn't come close to Riven
Alright, keep us posted on when you play your second video game.
>>732773690It's a good game for sure. Are there any more detective games like that one?
>>732774686If you liked the scene-hopping then I recommend this text based detective game: https://william-rous.itch.io/type-help
>>732773690I wish you couldn't solve half of the crew in a single death, and the story is just "lmao kraken". Still has solid art and voice acting.>>732773842The only real puzzle in Riven is closing doors
>>732773690If you enjoyed that, try Hypnospace Outlaw, also involves "detective" work, imo completely underrated gem
>>732774686I haven't finished it but Golden Idol seems pretty similar. I need to get back to it.
>>732774928>and the story is just "lmao kraken"It's a bit more than that, but I did feel like the story ended up weak, considering you're basically exploring it the entire length of the game. It's already a significant part of the game, so why not take a bit more time to write something more interesting? The ending where you see the capitan with the mermaid was kind of a nothing burger too, even though judging by the overall story structure it should have been some great twist or a revelation.
DINGDINGDING DING DING
What's the gameplay like? is it hardcore?
>>732773690Yeah if youre a baby that's about right
>>732773775it’s the only one of its kind
>>732775307The gameplay is you looking around very carefully, double checking your documents and then scribbling down your assumptions in your notebook. It's genuinely fantastic, go give it a shot.
>>732773690It's a top 20 game for me, and unlike most of the shitposting brown children on /v/, I actually play video games.
>>732773690How? The captain killing every single mate, passenger and crew wasn't exactly a thrilling reveal.
>>732775401sounds very boring how is the combat
>>732775307dude there’s so much blood and death in this gameextremely hardcore
>>732775519Hardcore as in the opposite of casual.
>>732775307It's a DSPcore game.
>>732775205Yes, they built up that part from the start but all it does at best is explain why the ship reached England empty, and you could just say it drifted the right way. Overall the story is not that interesting because nearly all the scenes are about combat.
>>732775557the average /v/irgin would be incapable of getting even the bad ending
>>732775205I just chalked it up to me being a philistine because the final line about quicksilver or whatever just totally fell flat for me. They already teased enough that the attacks were because they stole some sea treasure I don't get what the actual reveal was supposed to mean.
>>732775669I suppose I could give it a try. How many hours until it clicks, usually?
>>732774928>>732775205>>732775629>>732775671It reminded me of a lot of Sherlock Holmes short stories where the reveal itself usually isn’t as interesting as the steps taken to get to the reveal.
This shit is 5 GB? The fuck?
>>732775761the steepness of the learning curve is the inverse of one’s IQ
>>732774686>>732775396check out The Roottrees Are Dead
>>732773690This isn't Outer Wilds. I prefer my detective work to be physics and time paradox based.
>>732776065a worse obra dinn
>>732773690Too hard
>>732776065I still have to try this one.
>>732773690>>732774686You should definitely check out the Golden Idol games. Roottrees can take a hike tho.
>>732773690i got drunk while playing it and i cant remember shit
>>732775489Go play COD or something anon, this isn't for you
>>732773690Just wait until you play Outer Wilds.
>>732773690It's good but the backtracking gets old very fast. I did a lot of guessing on quite a few names. I probably would have given up if I didn't get lucky a few times
>>732773690I like it a lot but it by it's nature of process of elimination massively loses steam when you get to the 2nd half of the crew down.
>>732773690Good game. I preferred Papers, Please.
