The stronger DRM is the one that performs better. Once it's gone you just crack the game and play it with the same performance, I guess.
Not ideal but if you're not willing to do that then you'll get filtered from PC gaming eventually, sadly.
If you've never had to crack a game you own because it uses some retarded DRM that is no longer active you just haven't been gaming on PC for long enough.

request a refund through steam.
They'll honor it if you don't abuse the system otherwise. I got a refund for RE4make not even a week ago after having 100% of the cheevos and like 40 hours.
