Any good H-game demos?

I enjoyed these so far.

https://store.steampowered.com/app/4363950/Bellagarths_Quest/
https://store.steampowered.com/app/3593520/Lust_Arcanum/

Also this but I haven't played it yet because I don't want to get too spoiled on third crisis. Got to play through that before this drops.

How do you get the steam store to stop showing ai slop, pron slop, and just pure fucking trash? about half of the new releases are shovelware.
>>
>>733106660
set your filters to block those games
this only really works for porn games because they have the decency to properly self tag
>>
>>733106306
The Last Salvage Squad, if you enjoy first person shooters. I don't play those games much but had a great time with the demo, up to fans of the genre to say if this is a good thing or not.
https://store.steampowered.com/app/3551190/The_Last_Salvage_Squad/

From those you have on your list, I've enjoyed (and recommended)
>HyperTyper 2000
>Lelu
>MIGHTREYA
>Moto Rush Reborn
>Schrodinger's Call
>Walk The Frog

Can also heavily recommend INARI even if it's not part the steam next fest but you have to download the demo on their kickstarter page

Chud trigger warning brown woman.
Dungeon crawling was alright, air movement when you get the shotgun helps a lot. Hidden trial rooms with platforming to gatekeep upgrades was nice.
I'm a sucker for a 3d map.
Gunplay sucks dick, souls style bonfires/healing/respawning doesn't feel needed especially with how low time to death is. Projectile parry felt unreliable, hard to gauge projectile distance unless strafing in a large area.
Got to the boss and quit.

You can filter by type (like early access or VR), sexual/mature content, and by tags in your store preferences. You can even exclude devs/publishers if they have a page. Not much to do about AI, tho.

For whatever reason every time I try to launch that game I wind up stuck on a black screen after two logos show up. Not sure how to fix but I would like to try it out sometime.

Played more like a sonic riders style racing game than I was expecting, that's not necessarily a bad thing.
Turned off almost all "speed" effects and camera movement but it was still a bit much, I like to be able to see where I'm going.
UI and menus are phenomenal but overdesigned at the same time. Writing and characters were cute I guess.
I'll keep an eye on it, gameplay needs some more polish and visuals need to be toned down.

Now THIS is my kinda weird bullshit.
Only a little bit of a headache after finishing the demo in about 40 minutes. Fiddling with the res/visuals a bit more might make it less painful.
Wandering around the find the bosses is fine I guess, having boost be on a skill check like an active reload was a nice idea.
"Platforming" up to the third boss and the boss itself was definitely the highlight.

There was the demo of a metroidvania that gave me a similar experience of pure unprofessional jank, lol.
>steam prompts with the "grab a controller and kickback!" window when launching the game
>title screen only has start and quit, no settings (but it has the discord and X buttons)
>get in the game proper
>pressing start gives you access to the settings
>play for 2 minutes
>game asks the player to press F1, F2 or F3 to alternate between weapons
>look into the settings to see if I can rebind the keys to controller buttons
>there are no options to do it

aand uninstalled
the game was called momogatari or something, it was a hand-drawn metroidvania. the downsides of dumpster diving during next fests for sure lol.
>>
>>733125854
I also played that. You have those three weapons, but only one weapon has a proper combo for fighting. The great sword and the dual swords had only one slow attack and were literally only for solving puzzles or breaking obstacles. Terrible.

So that aside, the game is actually pretty interesting. It's a puzzle dungeon kind of game where you need to be efficient with your use of time, and inventory items can slow you down depending on how heavy they are, so it's a matter of figuring out the correct sequence of doing things. Not frustrating at all either since you can rollback your actions. It's a demo so I just killed the robot as soon as I could and stopped playing there. I'm already sold on the game.

looks really good, as you said. but I've been "burned" once with a dungeon crawler I thought looked awesome and had somewhat interesting gameplay but ended up disappointing me (FIGHT KNIGHT)
Not saying it was a bad game by any means but I didn't end up having fun with it
>>
>>733127469
>what makes that game bad
Don't really know. Might be unjustified. But the focus on ring gathering makes me kind of worried. Might just be some kind of run&collect as speedy as possible while trying to survive the monsters. As opposed to some kind of meticulous dungeon crawling/exploration and if it was to be more focused on ring gathering than either combat or exploration, then I don't know.
But that may very well not be the case at all. So I don't know. Judge for yourself.
I'll try the game soon. But I've got a few demos I'm going to try first.

Ostensibly an island exploration game but it's more of a narrative walking sim. The graphics are shit and the gameplay is so jank that I was about to write it off as another kusoge but what kept me going to the end of the demo was the story and directing which are both surprisingly good, and the music is great. It's a melancholic story about the moon falling towards the Earth and most of Earth becoming submerged with the few surviving humans waiting for death, and your two main characters deciding to go on a journey before the protagonist dies (from illness). If you can get past the jank it's effectively emotional.

Well, I tried it. Never played a vampire survivors game or clone before, I guess I can see why it was so popular. It's probably better in 3D, though. I was sort of confused at first why my gun kept firing, thought I had a key pressed down by mistake. I expect slowdown to be an issue, the amount of enemies generated was colossal. I didn't even get the giants to appear. I found some thing that said an alien was coming when I activated it but died before I saw what that meant. Actually seems reasonably fun, but I don't know if that means I'll go for it. very tentative reccomendation.

I saw the post complaining about the controls in this game being bad, and I suspected immediately that it was yet another case of someone just not knowing how survival horror tank controls worked. And yes, that's pretty much what was going on. The developer even tried to make sure you know by leaving a note that said it was on purpose.

It is obtuse in a slightly different way than normal though, so you will have to get used to it, but it won't take long. Anyway, you can take the elf's clothes off and run around naked, as advertised. Also when you die, your skin colour changes? Must be an elf cloning facility. Anyway, the big draw is REALISTIC AMMUNITION and reloading. so few games do it. The demo is supposedly coming to steam soon, but definite wishlist and purchase here.

Kind of difficult actually, but progress in demos don't matter. You can tell pretty much instantly whether a game has soul or not, so I just went until I got killed the first time. It'd probably be more accurate if the submarine corridors were even more narrow but enh, they're narrow enough and the game doesn't need to be super accurate. Looks like they are going with an evil oil plotline, like in Still Wakes the Deep and The X-files and probably a million other games I've already forgotten about. If I include "strange black substance in general", then it's RE8 and Song of Horror as well. Whatever. The black oil is evil. Makes people into zombies.

I was a submarine guy, once, briefly so you know I'd be on the game for details like you waking up in a room with a Captain's Uniform on the wall. Am I the captain? I don't appear to be that high ranking. Why would the Captain's uniform even be in the radio room? Storage space can result in stuff like that on submarines, but a dress uniform, at that? You don't really need that underwater. It's probably just an insignificant background detail and not some puzzle to be solved.

Might have been me, but really the camera is worse than the controls
I think the clunk in controls is a bit intentional to slow down the pace, but I don't think flipping which way is which whenever you transition cameras and needing to go from camera direction controls to tank controls until you stop, at which point you again go to camera controls was very well thought out, made traversal disorientating
Also I hated hiding attacking enemies in camera dead angles which happened to me twice

This one's already out, but I think I forgot to talk about it last next fest or maybe it never even entered. I'm probably going to buy it at some point. It's got a lot of unique stuff that will take me quite a while to figure out. I don't know why they let pick up ash trays and eat the ash out of them, leaving me with an empty tray. Or maybe I'm just assuming she ate it? It made a sound like eating, and if I just tossed the ashes on the ground, that shouldn't make a sound. What's the point of an ashtray at all, with or without ashes? Also she has this kickass tail you can jab people with. Few games do non-human physiology.

It actually kind of reminds me of early hitman games because I walk in a room and TRESPASSER fills my screen and everyone gets mad at me and starts shooting and I'm barely certain what I did. I thought this was a gas station? I guess it's an exclusive members only gas club. I don't have time to devote to this game during a demo festival. It will take me quite a while to get this game downpat, but for now, onto the next demo.

I understand that you have to do all the set-up first, but it takes forever to realize I'm a rogue car AI when I knew that immediately. I just want to get to solving serial killings, like Kit. Or for a gaming example, this game kind of strikes me as similar to Death Trick. Where you possess mundane objects to manipulate reality around you.

Anyway, I turned it off before I got to the good part but I have a pretty decent suspicion a good part exists so it's wishlisted.

So you play as a woman in the past but she wears pants and a tie and is also a detective very unrealistic but she also does sort of look like a boy anyway so what the fuck ever I guess, sometimes they did masquerade.

The translation is a bit off, and the re-use of NPC assets was pretty blatant, but it seems pretty decent. There's also stealth sections like in Metal Gear Solid. or FF7. It's also got that blurry look just like I'm emulating a DS game, very committed to the bit. fun. wishlisted.

Arena shooter with your typical rougelite elements. That's random upgrades between stages. I think the setting premise is neat. Certified Hidden Gem uncovered, though I don't know if I'll be able to say that about this studio much longer. Tainted Pact is making a bit of a name for itself with Suffer the Night and Flesh Made Fear and now this new demo. They might become reasonably well known, like Puppet Combo, if they keep it up.

Anyway, the opening monologue was hilarious, I'm pretty sure they stole some direct quotes from Rorschach's opening monologue in Watchmen, like "city drowning in own filth."

Demo was alright, but I’ll have to see how the full game shakes out. Parry timing felt a little off, but I could adjust after some practice. Not really a fan of how much it seems to be leaning into precision platforming over combat. Not that I don’t expect some of that in a metroidvania, but typically you ramp up to it a bit more

a lot of the garbage asset flip games fall into the same category so being smart with your tag filtering should catch a shitton of them immediately.
Having a Slop tag would also greatly expedite the filtering but that'd be dependent on people actually tagging things properly.
Digging your way through the queue of 3k goes a hell of a lot faster when the obvious garbage doesn't even get a second of your time, and most savvy hobby gamers can be repelled by a shit game within 5 seconds.
Still gonna power through it 3 times a year. The amount of things I actually wound up enjoying enough to consider picking up has kept me sane amidst the daily blunders of the modern gaming landscape.

Yeah it's supposed to look like you're in a jrpg and fighting off the heroes as a random tiny goblin. I think the game is pretty though, a lot nicer than the RPG Maker RTP stuff. The textures are all custom.

It's not that bad. I suppose it could be better? I'm no graphic designer.

What about the stereotypical photogenic hero cast on the top, overshadowing your runt goblin protagonist, seperated by the title name? Sort of evoking an underdog theme. A david and goliath theme for christians.

>>733199395
One of the first things I fixed, would not be much of a game otherwise.
I considered letting you keep whatever 2 items you have in your hands but it made it so that you basically just always grab the two strongest defensive items. In which case I just balance all enemies that they are still hard in case you do so. There would probably be ways to make it work but I'm pretty happy with the way it is now.
>>
>>733194625
Looks cool anon. I like the focus on movement in the gifs. Might give it a try if the enemies have big butts.
>>
>>733198846
While I did say I'm not the target audience, your game's visuals do look nice there and are of much better quality than the cover art
I really dunno what you could do to improve it, maybe instead of the stock goblin, a pic of the town against a sun or moon for contrast?
Or maybe a pic of a group of goblins fighting off/defending their town against some human adventurers in the standard rpg outfits (knight/warrior, wizard, thief, priest/cleric)?
If you have some cash, maybe look for some decent artists to see if they have better ideas

This one was good, wishlisted. It's kind of like brainteasers or twenty questions. The first riddle was like this: A man took your stuff and destroyed it. You thanked him. What was the item he took?

You can ask questions like: "Was it a large, or small item?" to narrow it down.

The answer in this case, was: The man was a ticket taker. He ripped your ticket it half and you thanked him because amusement parks are fun. I got it right on the first try btw I am super smart. Here's a riddle for you: figure out the game even though I didn't post the name. You can ask me questions about it, but I will only answer with "Yes, No, or irrelevant."

gotta add goblin town upgrades and world building. one potion at first, but you can unlock more potion slots at the store by buying them with money or points or something.

Obviously going to need a wave enemy mode, and the short length makes it seem like it might benefit from some sort of roguelike features, perhaps.

You could go with a "kidnapping women and keeping them as sex slaves" feature but probably a bad idea in this case. There's good and bad that comes with sexual content.

I'd love to make an H version some time, the concept is perfect for it. I'd probably have to team up with an actual porn artist though, I don't think I have it in me to draw or write sexy stuff. I might give it a shot after release.

It's tempting to add town upgrades and stuff but I'm trying to keep the scale down for now. I could definitely see myself adding a randomizer/roguelite mode with that kind of system after release, though.
I don't really like roguelites to be honest but the game would work pretty well with a randomizer mode I think. I sometimes fantasise about a mines of moria version underground where you create your own very vertical town out of pre-made collection of parts. Like drafting rooms in Blue Prince but they connect and become 3d platforming challenges of your own making with items strewn about.
One day...

Sex Scenes are lame but nudity is based. Just add a feature where you chain up female prisoners near the moat and take away their clothes to get adventurers to try rescue them. This means you have to come up with a reason you want people to attack when the whole goal seems to be preventing that. meh.
>>
>>733204936
>Sex Scenes are lame but nudity is based.
I think it's the opposite. Official dev-endorsed nudity only makes sense in H-games or VNs with sex scenes, otherwise there's no point. You get the worst of both worlds for everyone involved. Devs lose potential audiences because of the NSFW and people who might seek out pure gaming experiences will skip the game thinking it sucks because the focus is on ecchi content instead of gameplay. Coom mods are better imo
>>

>write your deductions in your own words rather than choosing pre-made answers
In the steam description tipped me off.
>The game uses a large language model to evaluate the player's deductions.
At the bottom of the page. I bring this up because I have no faith in a LLMs use for this task. In a classic text based game or a "pick from the choices" option there are a limited number of possible things that the systems accepts to produce an outcome.
A LLM is doing this same thing of trying to put what it receives into a very limited box of outcomes the game actually needs to proceed. I don't see how this makes for a better game.

Now do you want to be angry or have a discussion?

idk lmao. I don't pay that much attention to the low effort shovelware slop
you look back 25 years ago and you'll notice the exact same trends that are plaguing indies today with chasers. The karters, JRPGs or goldeneye clones of old are the roguelike deckbuilders of today
or even flash games. nothing has changed and we both have tunnel vision
>>
>>733212347
Fair enough. Its not like I'm disagreeing with you at all. I think pixel games can and have looked great. Hell, like you said, there are examples of it. Its just that common issue of there's more garbage than quality.
>>
>>733212347
>goldeneye clones of old
What? The only one I could even think of is the Mission Impossible game and that was third person.
>>
>>733206219

What game?
>>
>>733212404
You're retarded on at least three levels.
>>
>>733210754
Most anons are just angry at whatever they are exposed too much (pixels, roguelikes etc.). Pay it no attention.

But it's true that most devs use "pixel art" as lazy crutch for design and animation.
If you would use one color pixel to make character legs, you would be kicked out of any serious studio in 1980's.

>you look back 25 years ago and you'll notice the exact same trends
Nothing is the same as it was 25 years ago if we consider the fact with most PC releases every single developer were making their own propriety engines. That alone should tell you about a minor barrier of entry involved. Even though people could still shit out garbage despite that. Only those multiplat games that went to consoles were all renderware. They were often forced to build game systems from the ground up completely on their own. I'm not saying it made the games better, just that it was slightly less amateur at times.
>>
>>733213163
Flash was the low barrier of entry engine of the times.
This means you got 1000 shitty games for every kino one.

Show me games with great character design

Use your imagination.

Anime vidya is kind of a solved genre. The most optimal projects are either low effort lewd games, medium effort fotm, or high effort gacha.

how about you use your non-existent penis
>>
>>733211554
I actually played, and beat, all the Hitman games, even the original one that no one liked. Times haven't changed much. I still am willing to play new titles that maybe don't have the best quality control. You're still a loser.

The games coming out today are going to be the classics of the past that you wish you played, at some point.
>>
>>733211637
I think I win, no one has managed to outdo me. 582 is a pretty good number though.
>>
FYI to any anons reading and wondering if this fest actually sucks, this happens every year in the press preview, it's always a bit shakey (3000+ games!) until steam turns the algo on and winners are selected.
>>
>>733212404
Whispers of Luminaries.
>>
>>733218197
I struggle to play more than 200 games each fest and I even take the Next Fest week off from work, then play both a week before and after each one. What's your secret?
>>
>>733218264
I play them outside of next fest. At least once a week, I sort by release date>demos and play about twenty of them, all year.
>>
>>733182523
It looks fun which is exactly why I will skip on it. I have 700 hours in backpack battles and I can't introduce new addictions right now.
>>
I want something like Witch Spring R
>>
>>733218407
I see. I also play a few outside of the fest.
Nice to see another game mechanic appreciator.
Do you have any genres you go to or avoid?
>>
>>733214090
I doubt you could recognize great character design if it hit you with a truck and teleported you to another world where everyone has great character design.
Cool bugs though.
>>
>>733218507
Plenty.

Avoid: Sports, Idler, 3D Platformers/Precision Platformers, First Person Shooters, Multiplayer Games. Rhythm

Drawn towards: Survival Horror and Mystery. Farming Sims.
>>
>>733218723
I'll play anything if it looks interesting or well made, but I tend to avoid 3D platformers, horror outside of resident evil style survival horror, idle games and tower defense.
>>
>>733218964
3D platformers just tend to be uninteresting unless they are exceptional examples of the genre, like with Blast Cats, say.

https://store.steampowered.com/app/2007430/Blast_Cats/

I'm more willing to go through a Resident Evil clone even if it could hardly be called a standout of the genre, though. Like Resonant Dusk.

I don't see why an RE clone wouldn't have a hot girl these days, there are so many competitors which do.

LOOKING FOR DEMO SUGGESTIONS.

I like:
>detective games, like Golden Idol or Rootrees
>roguelike/deck builder games, like Slay the Spire (not reflex roguelikes, slow)
>second monitor games like Backpack Battles or Darkest Dungeon, for play during work
>cRPGs that are heavier on the storytelling and characters, not dungeon crawlers that are 90% combat
>turn based strategy games, like Rimworld or Civilization
>>
>>733219283
3D platformers are almost always a downgrade from 2D. The extra dimension doesn't add anything and they are often slow and meandering. There are very few exceptions imo
Blast Cats looks like absolute ass though.
The Big Catch, now there's a game with promise.
https://store.steampowered.com/app/2985610/The_Big_Catch_Tacklebox/

Resonant Dusk looks neat, very close to Alone in the Dark.
>>
>>733219765
Yeah, well, harder to make a 3D platformer than a 2D one. They're not entirely wrong when they say that indie devs games tend to be worse. Like most things, they just blow the whole issue out of proportion.
>>
>>733219571
>turn based strategy games, like Rimworld or Civilization

Civilization set in stone age basically.
