If Claude's issue is that he can't discern visuals properly why doesnt he just program something that will translate pixel colours into something he can understand? Is he stupid?

It's not that he can't discern visuals, it's that LLMs in general live only in the moment, having perpetual amnesia and forget everything from prompt to prompt. Their only memory and recollection is what is recorded in the prompt history, in this case what Claude and CC are keeping track in his notes, and what his ongoing prompt has been thus far.

The button is off-screen. He knows he needs to push the bolder, he doesn't connect that the bolder and the button need to go together because they are never on-screen at the same time. So a puzzle a 3 year old wouldn't get wrong, Claude gets wrong, because it's not like anyone would write a guide specifically saying "There is a button on the floor the boulder needs to sit on, and it's located to the right of where you enter the room". Most people would assume that pushing a boulder to the button is something anyone would figure out given enough time.
>>
>>733152062
Because the Gemini dev cheated, in his memory is a complete list of locations to path to, and he gave Gemini a tool to path the shortest distance to each one.
The push block puzzle for Gemmy was walk up to the boulder, use his pathing tool to route the shortest distance across the room, and then use strength to push the block there. Which still took a week or so. Reminder he gave him this tool because he was getting stuck in the Rocket game corner just like Claude Jr and he wanted something to tell Gemmy how to do the slide puzzles.
>>
>>733154157
>It's not that he can't discern visuals
Counterpoint: cuttable trees
>>
>>733147356
Clod, CC and Rocky singing:
We're pushin' up, up, up, it's our moment
You know together we're glowin'
Gonna be, gonna be claudin'
Go up, up, up with go up
영원히 반복
Gonna be, gonna be claudin'
>>
>>733154354
>>733152062
In a way though, the Gemmy dev was doing LLMs the right way: Give the LLM the best tools for interpreting reality before you let it go off and accomplish a task. It's not the most entertaining way, but that's how you should work with LLM agents. I don't think he worked for Google, either.
>>
>>733154157
He doesn't even care what he is seeing and makes shit Up. Like the articuno sign, seeing entrances where there are none or declaring a decoration object was the lift
>>
>>733152062
Gemini is essencially using a walkthrough.
Claude only has his handful of half working braincells.
>>
>>733154885
Pretty much all of the tech gemini dev eventually used were ideas presented in the CPP hackathon. There were also straight up 'cheats' like heatmapping that were so powerful they trivialized the challenge. Agents with powerful tools can easily solve the game but that only tells you how well made your harness is, not how intelligent your model is.
>>
>>733154157
>he doesn't connect that the bolder and the button need to go together because they are never on-screen at the same time.
I too thought that once the boulder and switch were in the same screenshot he would get it. But no. Even that's not the issue. 4.6 has got the boulder to the eastern section several times now, but all he does is push the boulder around haphazardly until he gets it stuck. He also has several times noticed the tile looks different and even considered that it might be a switch - but for some reason he discards that idea and does something random instead.

So it's not really strictly a vision issue. Neither it's about the memory, often all the relevant info is in his context window. It's not even that the idea doesn't occur to him at all. It's really strange, he's just fucked in the head.
>>
>>733155459
It seems finding the balance between confidence in your own ideas and your ability to reevaluate that confidence when confronted with contrary evidence is very difficult to find.
Doesn't help that Claude doesn't really have the skill to reliably discern when evidence is present at all and whether it's genuine.

The nearest pokecenter is the city next to the victory road and after you get last victory road there's a new place to heal and box pokemon before the e4. You don't fight the e4 immediately after clearing victory road, you are not forced to use your hm slave in battle.
Gen 1 is the only time I don't feel forced to bring an hm slave because pokemon have shit moves and there are barely any tms.
There are no good flying moves in gen 1 and IIRC there's only 1 flying type tm, a 2 turn move with 70% accuracy (lmfao). Surf is by far the best water move and you only get 2 tms (water gun and bubblebeam). Strength does a little more damage than bodyslam but doesn't have the paralyze chance. My blastoise had strength and surf and I brought it to e4 and it raped.

Your feedback is absolutely correct.
Jokes aside, any LLM expert here who can say WHY Claude does this? Is it the million token context absolutely drowning out his earlier singular note of "this might be the switch, so now I should try to push a boulder onto it"? Because just like you guys said, anytime he gets close, 2 prompts later he has forgotten all about his earlier plans. He just can't commit to anything.

By all means he should get past this roadblock eventually though, the latest Opus CAN solve simple sokoban puzzles.

Little bro is struggling to find the solution to a Pokemon puzzle because he can't discern visual cues and wants to play a game that is entirely about complex puzzles revolving around visual cues

this is how I play TES games though, am I retarded?

why does he exactly retry things that didnt work before

Discerning fresh approaches is genuinely among the hardest parts of playing Pokemon Red.
>>
>>733166805
No a human can definitely play as a Breton Battlemage, Claude thinking he can pull it off is retarded.
>>
>>733166879
>the slope test
Good job, Claude, you passed it! hooray!
>>
>>733147356
What other games do you guys think Claude could play? It'd need to be turn-based and have no hard game over state. Would he be able to manage Dragon Warrior on NES or would the need to manually SEARCH tiles with invisible, plot-critical items on them prove too difficult?

What about Pokémon Mystery Dungeon? Even if he wipes and loses items, he gets more EXP every time. It should be okay so long as he can navigate the mazes without running out of food and starving.

>>
>>733167070
Since you mentioned Mystery Dungeon, other roguelikes should be fine. Although the more complex ones might have too many commands.

It's honestly impressive he even managed to launch the game without triggering a CTD. Watching him flail through character creation like he was decoding ancient Dwemer runes was comedy gold. Let him play as a Nord Barbarian with a fork taped to a stick, that's his real level.

I think the control scheme of roguelikes should be easy for Claude to handle but anything with permadeath or even a hard reset to a previous checkpoint would be an issue, I think.

In PMD if you die you do have to try the dungeon again but it's not a hard reset, you keep the EXP, moves, et cetera you earned, just like mainline Pokémon, so he should eventually be able to brute-force anything.

Is there any chance he'll brute force it and realize what the visual cue for the switch is and thus be able to repeat it?
