>oh, so tou're a new apprentice looking for duties?

Was it autism?

He was a nepo hire who just wanted the dumb new apprentice out of his sight so he could laze around and let his trusted buddy Tiram Gadar run the guild in his stead
>>

Aren't you like a known god prodigy in this game? Would make sense for people to have high standards for you
>>
>Trebonius gave you some duties? Last year he asked me to dig a tunnel to the mainland so the Telvanni couldn't interfere with Imperial trade. I just tell him it's progressing according to schedule." --Malven Romori, Mages Guild Wizard
>"I don't care what he asked you to do. The best thing for all of us is to ignore that Scuttlehead. Last year he asked me to learn the language of the Silt Striders so we could question them about who they took to different cities." --Sirilonwe, Mages Guild Conjurer
>"Ah, the current Guildmaster. It is rumored that he was promoted to his current position to get him out of Cyrodiil. It is one of the weaknesses of the soft-skins. They can have power without wisdom." --Skink-in-Tree's-Shade, Mages Guild Master Wizard
>"Imperial s'wit. He knows nothing of the Dunmer and even less of politics. When you're speaking with him, just nod your head and smile and then forget everything he said." --Ranis Athrys, Mages Guild Wizard
>"We get along rather well. He is always willing to listen to my advice." --Tiram Gadar, A Telvanni Agent spying on the Mages Guild
>"The other day he asked me to build a new Anumidium for Ocato since the original seems to have been destroyed in all those troubles in the Iliac Bay. I don't know what he asked you to do, but my advice is to try and ignore him." --Janand Maulinie, Mages Guild Journeyman
>"Has he given you any duties? He asked me to chain an army of dreugh to the Foreign Quarter Canton and have it towed to a more reasonable climate. Just between you and me, I don't think he's the best candidate for Arch-mage. I'd take that lizard Skink in Sadrith Mora over Trebonius any day." --Craetia Jullalian, Mages Guild Apprentice
>"Did he give you any duties? Oh, that's not so bad, I guess. He asked me to make an inventory of all the plates and bottles in Vvardenfell. I'm never going to get in done in time." --Flacassia Fauseius, Mages Guild Apprentice
holy based

Is gravity "weak"? I'd argue Aedra are stronger than Daedra on Nirn because their laws are immutable. See: Arkay's law (which can only be subverted by necromancers but never ignored)
>>
>>733153287
Well he's clearly competent in actual spellcasting, I mean he's a certified spell slinger if his duel to the death is of any indication. And to cast spells you need intelligence, where else is a mage supposed to keep his Magick? So it can't be unabated stupidity, probably even crafted that necromancers amulet himself, mayhaps he just has high standards for other guild members. He may be bald but that doesn't mean he can't be young, he could be a teenage wonderkind who was advanced to guild master on raw talent alone like a player character and has hit a glass ceiling where he can't advance within the confines of the guild system. A truly tragic story which ends with the Nerevarine crushing his skull.

>>
>>733162093
He's a powerful battlemage. His political opponents wanted him gone from Cyrodiil. He got "promoted" to being the archmage of the backwaters shithole known as Vvardenfell. It's the opposite of nepotism.
>>
>>733162328
His "opponents" probably considered him a retard just like everyone in Vvanderfell and wanted to get rid of him. All he's good at is killing shit with magic.

No one is arguing that he did it by merit, and the corruption itself didn't favour him at all. Its quite obvious they promoted him just to kick him to the fucking backwater land of Vvanderfell. He is surely a powerful mage and he'd shit up stuff if left unchecked.

>and the corruption itself didn't favour him at all. Its quite obvious they promoted him just to kick him to the fucking backwater land of Vvanderfell.
Which was only possible because of political capital (this includes personal power as political power grows out of the barrel of a gun) Trebonius had otherwise why not fire or demote him. Skink-in-Tree's-Shade also implies his promotion (and let's not forget it's promotion, he was not an archmage before) was advantageous to him: "They can have power without wisdom." Trebonius has power, his appointment was advantageous to him whilst also politically expedient to whoever wanted to get rid of him, ie. a corrupt appointment.

>>
>>733173070
It's in the Abeccean Shores expansion from Project Tamriel. There is a quest chain where you go out drinking with the Emperor's son, rescue him from a dungeon and then get to walk around his airship. The helmet is in the airship on the command deck.
>>
>>733173621
Ah. I've only briefly been to Anvil, and only Anvil. I didn't get around to exploring the place much or the surrounding area.
>>
>>733173805
The quest is from the main quest chain for the Kingdom of Anvil, and it is one of the last in the chain. And since the airship comes and leaves forever you can't really bypass that requirement which is a bummer. Maybe in 70 years when the Imperial City is added there will be more opportunities to get that set.
>>

solving the mystery of the dwarfs is pretty reasonable compared to the shit he usually asks for.
>>
>>733184042
It's basically the equivalent of asking your PhD physics student to invent a unified theory. Like yeah that's the dream and it is in-field but holy shit that's a big ask.
>>
>>733184042
I don't think the stilt strider one is that unreasonable, surely a decent mage could craft a spell that lets them speak with animals
>>
>>733184405
If you're a mage, how is digging a tunnel going to be hard? Can't you just nab some kwama eggs, hatch them and then command creature them to dig? If you're a mage you're probably going to live long enough to get it done a few metres a day.
>>
>>733184871
Aren't there spells that can just shape the earth anyways? Just make the tunnels yourself in between generous naps
>>
>>733184975
Dunno. Earth is the building block of Mundus. Surely the magical energy would disperse?
>>
>>733185193
I know it's a spell from >arena but in that game you could make tunnels with passwall. The knowledge of the spell has apparently been lost but surely a dedicated mage with enough magical knowledge could figure it out.
>>
>>733184871
I think the real problem is the fact that it's an undersea tunnel that's supposed to start in a swamp ass area
>>
>>733184042
The others are whimsical and silly while that one is too serious of a request
>>
Damn, Bal Foyen itself has more quests than a lot of Morrowind's towns. I can already tell Tamriel Rebuilt is going to be a good time. Does it go beyond mainland Morrowind at all or would I need the Project Tamriel stuff for that?
>>
>>733187251
You would need Project Tamriel for areas outside of Morrowind. Maybe that will be different when the Padomaic Islands get added but I'm not sure. It's not such a huge lift since you already need Tamriel Data for Tamriel Rebuilt. Both projects use the same asset repository. You may as well have them all installed and activated since there is some cross over with little quests and transport links.
>>
>>733187251
>I can already tell Tamriel Rebuilt is going to be a good time.
Wait until you get to Narsis, it's incredible.

I'm finally starting my first playthrough, and now I regret not starting sooner, this is honestly incredible. I've never played a wizard who actually makes magic fun and convenient. I can do so much with magic that i can't imagine the game without it. Now I see what everyone means with how bad oblivion and Skyrim are.

After I'm done with the main story, and finishing a house Questline, which mod expansion should I start? Mainland morrowind? SHOTN, PC?

>>
>>733189804
More because there's not a lot of lore hooks for them in Morrowind beyond the aesthetics of their architecture sounding neat. It gets better if we include Kirkbride math autism reality warping but it's still not as colorful as the Khajiit or anything.

Like most Project Tamriel lore of that nature, they really have squeeze out every last little thing they can get from minor morrowind flavor text most people never see as well stuff from Redguard and other spin-off games, dev forum posts, etc. And then temper it with some of Kirkbride's schizory and texts from later games

"I am a miner. Usually here on Vvardenfell, being a miner means you're an eggminer. Scrib jerky and scrib jelly, kwama eggs and kwama cuttle are the basis of our Vvardenfell economy. Yes, there are more valuable resources we take from mines -- raw ebony, raw glass, dreugh wax, daedra skin, daedra heart, diamond, ash salts, and so forth -- and that's good work, too. But it's the eggminers that feed Morrowind, and bring cash from all over the Empire."

"Kwama eggs are a principal agricultural commodity of Vvardenfell District. Kwama live and breed in large communal subterranean colonies. Miners protect kwama eggs from poachers, predators, and raiding kwama foragers from other colonies, and harvest judiciously, preserving sufficient eggs to sustain colony growth. Consumed locally or exported by ship to the rest of the Empire, kwama eggs are eaten boiled, roasted, or raw, and remain fresh for weeks."

They wrote a whole complex narrative about the altmer having an immortal god-king who fought a psychic battle against the Marukhati Selectives and accidentally played a key role in the breaking of time from just the one throwaway line in the Dragon Break in-game book where Mannimarco claim that the "King of Alinor was the one who broke [the dragon] in the first place". The ocean is really heavy. I dunno if there's stats on how big Mundus' oceans are, but if it's anything like Earth you're basically asking one dude to make a tunnel from Australia to India. Just going deep enough to get under the ocean would subject you to immense heat and pressure, and keeping the tunnel from collapsing under the weight of the water above it would be borderline impossible.

Why did the Telvanni pretend to get beaten by the Argonians? Could they really not go outside for five minutes to cast a few nuke spells on the encroaching argonians?
>>
>>733195787
The "invasion of morrowind" was vastly overstated and not likely to have gone especially far beyond mournhold

Not really, the Gregory Keyes novels mention that the Argonian Invasion went at least as far as the crater that was once Vivec in Vvardenfell, and in Skyrim they have that one book that claims House Telvanni has fallen and Neloth saying that all their holdings are now in Vvardenfell, which implies that the mainland and the Telvanni isles got somehow wiped off the map.
Also, ESO retconned the "Telvanni Peninsula" into being the area between the Inner Sea and Necrom, so right next to Mournhold.
Also why are even talking about shitty post-morrowind lore?

The crater isn't that far off for some forward groups to filter to
The synod map made in 4e200ish to exacting standards has the standard provincial borders and the "telvanni" family had no actual standing in the namesake house because it's a meritocracy not a blood thing
But yes, enough of that, unless you have something to add since I don't want to sound like I'm cutting you off

Good Daedra are the original “Ancestor” Spirits of the Chimer and were always seen as such even before the Tribunal, this is the reason the Tribunal claims descent/approval from them to justify their existence. What was always weird to me is how the Direnni didn't end up fully turning into a separate race of Mer like the Ayleids, Falmer, and the Maormer did from presumably an Altmer base. There's Daedra interference behind the Dunmer and Orsimer, probably the Ayleids too, so maybe it's just a matter of no et'ada taking an interest and them not doing anything weird to themselves other than fucking Nedes.

>she's a dumb evil bitch
Azura is petty and has a princess complex but she's still one of the most benevolent Daedra to her followers and is actively working to preserve and promote Lorkhan's goals which is the ultimate reason for the setting. I think people either identify too much with Vivec/Kirkbride's hate for her (when he's one of the worst backstabbers and evil bitches in the setting) or else buying too hard into the "she made the ring she gave me bad on purpose" memes. That or they're actually mad the Dunmer got upgraded from Pissmer.

Morrowind in general doesn't exactly have the best level design, it succeeds a lot because of the art direction and hand placed loot.

assuming the material is at all accurate, Talos' chim chicanery actually works properly because he's a "benevolent" narcissist instead of a plain narcissist like vivec and does more than just write autofanfiction, he's (they're) a few steps up from some of the earth bones
Mannimarco (Moonimarco) is the +/- post-convention dead aedra level if you look at his relatively small interaction with Arkay

>>733196684
The others follow similar logic too. Hlaalu one is sorrounded by mines claimed by the house and they will even give you ownership of one.
Redoran one is located halfway between Ald'ruhn and Maar Gan, right next to the road frequented by pilgrims, in a region that suffers from ash storms and sixth house attacks.

There's Hjalti, Zurin, and Wulfhearth. When they were mortal, they all actively combined with eachother or pretended to be each-other, which when they ascended via the sixth walkinv way (soul fusion) they were unable to seperate, unlike the Tribunal, who when they united, they could seperate because were always worshipped individually.
For the record:
>Hjalti and Zurin collectively pretended to be the imperial Tiber Septim
>Hjalti used the Ghost of Ysmir Wulfhearth to shout, becoming the Original Talos Stormcrown
>Both Ysmir Wulfhearth and Zurin took the role of Underking during the whole Numidium affair and for the entire 3rd era up until his freedom in during the Warp in the West retroactively freed him in the past.

in Morrowind it is easier being hybrid of melee and magic, pure magic build(as in honest to god robe wearing pointy hat gandalf) is a bit "involved"
conjuration will be your bread, summon minions for damage and soaking up damage, destruction your butter
the nuance comes from spell costs associated with destruction, touch spells are cheaper than target(hurling balls at strangers), another thing damage over time effects are cheaper (they cost also scales down depending how long the duration and how much smaller the damage is), you can also weave in some AOE effect for good measure be careful though as your minions might get hurt too (skellies are immune to frost for instance)
>>
>>733217879
Open the console, click on them, and type "ori"
>>
>>733218052
>it is easier being a hybrid of melee and magic
This is true, but it's mostly just because a lot of daedra and some 6th house monsters have constant effect reflects. Until you're powerful enough to be immune to your own spells it's easier to just poke them with a spear or something similar a few times. Very powerful spells also tend to be quite costly to cast and restore magicka potions that are worth the material cost are difficult to make until late game since every ingredient aside from comberries is expensive.
I still wouldn't say it's really worth being a proper hybrid, it's more that having one weapon you don't suck with is very useful in the early game.

The map is like that because those areas aren't done yet. That's where Mournhold is meant to be.

>>

The grey-blue skin and red eyes are meant to symbolize the ash and lava of Red Mountain because the betrayal and tragedy happened there. Yes, Nerevar died a Chimer. The point of the Dunmer appearance is a constant reminder of the betrayal and a mourning for Nerevar. Azura also adopts this appearance to symbolize she's 'bearing the mark' of this act along with the Dunmer, and because she's the one most pissed off about her favorite dying so she's the one mourning the most.

Father of the Niben as of Oblivion has bird people but I don't think they were intended to be Ayleids exactly, it's something of a convenience to conflate them. I don't remember there being anything in MW proper which referred to them at all
It's interesting, but is it interesting for the sake of being interesting?
>>

It's a natural connection to make, really. The Song of Pelinal books heavily associates thr Ayleids with birds and avian imagery and there were supposedly "bird people" right where the ayleids lived. That PTR book implies that the Ayleids WERE somehow the bird people Topal the Pilot encountered in the ancient heartlands.

Are there any mods that add spells for conjuring dwemer constructs? I wanted to make an Altmer wizard who's a dwemeraboo exploring ruins all over Vvardenfell and mainland Morrowind.
>>
>>733244482
Have you ever tried playing as a Telvanni?
>>
>>733244482
The MWSE version of Tamriel Data adds dwarven construct summoning spells, not sure if you can actually obtain any of them in-game tho so you might end up having to use console commands or whatever
>>
>>733244319
Remnants of a previous Kalpa? The same way Dreugh are?
>>
>>733244654
That or just y'know, the Altmer's myth of how Mer spread isn't entirely accurate
>>
>>733244586
I haven't done a Telvanni playthrough in probably 7 years so forget if they have anything like that
>>733244629
That works just fine for me I don't really mind having to fiddle with the console for something as simple as that

There's also the idea from MK that Ayleid is more of an ideological designation than a racial one
>Gypsy Moth dustmemore insert - it should be noted here that it is always foolish to think of whole races sharing like minds. "Ayleid" is as much a metaphysical designation as it is a cultural one. Just like the earliest Chimer who orphaned themselves from the Velothi Exodites, but remain Chimer today, large numbers of Ayleids showed more interest in the immediate earthly needs of agriculture rather than the magical needs of concept-farming. This distinction becomes important later, when "Ayleid" begins to designate other, and ofttimes foreign, agencies.
>>
>>733244819
You'll get a summon sphere centurion spell as part of the Telvanni Stronghold questline.
>>
>>733244735
>Altmer's myth of how Mer spread isn't entirely accurate
This. Remember: The Dwemer were already established in Resdayn before Veloth showed up. It's not impossible that there were other races of mer (or at least mer-adjacent enolfey) already on Tamriel
>>
>>733244895
I think ayleid being ideological coming from the guy who's largely responsible for the imperial race in the same province is kind of funny
>>
I forget. Can you join House Telvanni if you're high ranked in the Mages Guild? I'm thinking of extending my Wizard's lifespan by working for them after finishing all the mages guild stuff on the mainland.
>>
>>733245162
I mean, in Kirkbride's vision there were at least two entirely different cultures in Cyrodiil each with a distinct ethnogenesis and everything, they didn't really become a singular thing beyond just gameplay terms until Oblivion
>>
>>733244931
Good to know guess I'll be best buds with Tiram Gadar this playthrough until I rat him out so I can benefit from the situation the true Telvanni way.
>>
>>733245304
I'm just saying that Cyrodiil's cultural divide and the idea of an empire that subsumes other cultures into it would have been better served by a lack of "the imperial guy" race
Colovians are already pseudo-nords and Nibenay is populated by what the Bretons of High Rock wish they were
Plus, everyone would get a fake latin name regardless of race which is fun

Yeah. You'll have some conflicts if you finish the quest after the one mentioned in the OP, thougever

>Nibenay is populated by what the Bretons of High Rock wish they were
No? The Colovians are more like Bretons with their vaguely medieval flair and chivalrous culture. The Nibenese are supposed to be exotic basically asian weirdos who are obsessed with bizarre religious esoterica and mercantilism, they're as far away from the setting's designated generic medieval europeans as you can get.

>>
>>733245679
They're a magic meritocracy more or less, that's why I specified "wish they were"
Since bretons otherwise mainly have the guy in The Sage as a notable magical practicioner, compare someone like Shalidor, despite being statistically competent

What little was later written about Colovia outside PGE as pre-Reman city states in Rislav (note the name) was basically an eastern European folk hero tale which is easy to compare to those north of them

TES isn't an RPG nigga. It's an adventure game with various stats. You can't make choices, so they aren't RPGs.

>>733245679
Colovians are in a few places specifically called Cyro-Nords, I think the intent is that Colovians have at least significant Nord admixture, they aren't like the Bretons because 1) The Ayleids aren't known for impregnating their rape-slaves like the Direnni were 2) The Direnni murdered as many Nords and half-Nords as they could in High Rock, whereas the Nords mixing with the proto-Colovians happened after the Ayleid power was broken. 3) Some of the tribes that Kirkbride describes getting enslaved by the Ayleids and leading to the ethnogenesis of both Colovian and Nibenese people are implied or named outright as of Atmoran/Nord extraction in the first place, so the Imperials were never pure Nedes.

Sex with Argonians
>>
>>733246317
ok i'm taking Altmer
>>
>>733245139
The issue though is that Ayleids at least by Alessia's time are described as MER, not as 'beast people' who are Mer by which original Ehlnofey faction they ascribed to (Settled vs. Wandering.) It's not really a Khajiit situation. Either they were never bird people and just stole culture/identity from the bird people as they genocided/replaced them, or some outside power made them look like Altmer. Which, of course, isn't impossible at all, but you need a reason for why Ayleid/Heartland High Elves/Wild Elves straight out aren't bird people anymore if you want to imply they were the bird people Topal met.
>>
>>733195787
argonians are supposed to be a jack of all trades race with above average magical skills, they're not stealthfags like the Khajiit. The only reason they became ebin assassins in Oblivion with that retarded shadowscale shit is because spears and medium armor were removed so the lizards needed a new stereotypical archetype
>>
Neat.
>>
>>733247271
I believe the implication they're going for is probably that the "bird men" Topal described were quite simply never literal bird men in the beastman sense at all, more of a nickname for the Ayleids, who in PTR are phenotypically distinct from the Altmer, with their most striking feature being their rather beak-like noses.

They're simply associated with birds. You can see it on their crowns and in naming conventions like "the unfeathered"

Morrowind's map is basically a stitched screenshot of square cells. That's why it quickly updates itself depending on your modlist.

Those cells are empty, and if you go there you will fall on water.

The reason these are not in TR yet is because they are currently in development. Mournhold is being left for last on purpose, as past attempts at making it nearly killed the mod twice, so they see that area as cursed.
In Dres territory's case, those lands are currently empty placeholders.

They're currently focused on Poison Song, and will later move on to the rest of Hlaalu and Redoran territory.
