I remember people saying that Leif has great potential but I didn't realize how much of a fucking demon he becomes. His parents were mid and to compensate me he decided to almost exclusively gain Awakening tier level ups. Just promoted him after a stint with the paragon band and he's already nearing caps. I also know now that Arden's pursuit band should go to him because relying on procs to one round shit was annoying. But if a pity that his magic will never amount to anything (same as Lachesis) so he won't be quite the all rounder I thought he'd be but that's fine.

I finally finished this game. it says 63 hours but if I include all the time I spent replaying turns it was probably closer to 100 hours. I was surprised by how dark the story was. I wonder how people reacted to everyone dying when the game came out. unfortunately the second generation characters came across as more boring versions of their parents.the game had a lot of annoying bookkeeping mechanics that I didn't enjoy. things like managing every character's individual finances, juggling the paragon ring around, grinding shipshit points, and setting up inheritances. when I finally got to the point where I could ignore all that shit I started having fun with the game, but sadly it was only the last 2 stages. I liked the huge maps with multiple objectives, but I really didn't like the mission design where you were forced to waste several turns walking your army to the opposite corner every time you captured a castle.I had a lot of trouble with the difficulty. I think I wasn't playing the game correctly. the weapon triangle didn't seem like something you could strategically plan around. it was more like an extra difficulty factor for enemies where axes were easy and lances were hard. there were a lot of different classes, but it felt like their usage had a lot of overlap and a lot of them were difficult to use effectively. Just take Silvers for instance: despite being supposedly the weapon designed to teach you about conserving durability, most of the older FE games see nothing wrong with giving you at least one brand new Silver weapon like 7 chapters in, so you end up never running low on Silvers unless you spam it on every weak mook early on.

Like in Binding Blade the light brand always deals 10 damage at range. FE4 is a rare exception where they're strong. Brave weapons are usually something you only equip to secure a kill on player phase, so you wouldn't abuse them enough to break them very quickly under normal circumstances.
