The president of their Developer Division literally wrote in an internal memo that "using AI is no longer optional — it's core to every role and every level" before instructing managers to evaluate employee performance based on how much they use AI internally. Which is not necessarily a problem but I don't trust M$ a bit when in comes to the evaluation of what's slop and not. AI already writes minimum 30% of their code and they're looking to translate Windows to another language(s) (surprisingly with AI; their self-proclaimed goal is 1 million lines of code per engine per month), so talking about "soulless AI slop" while the company goes balls down with the technology sounds like a slippery slope. Everything in that mail sounds way too good to be true anyways, as if Phil himself was the the problem that prevented XBOX from performing as it should be.
