The moment Minecraft went to shit is when they started appealing to builders (faggots). Now you get your inventory full much faster with a bunch of useless gay blocks that are literally the same as normal stone except they are slightly darker or lighter.
>>
sounds like a problem of the inventory, not of having block variety. perhaps if there was a more logical system instead of the bizarre "stacking" thing...

Minecraft pretty much died since the Mojang acquisition. Besides, there isn't much to do unless you got friends, and even then it's more of a chore simulator.
>>
>>733520326
No, bags and shulkers are already a thing, but no one wants to be sorrting all that useless shit all the time and having to build an auto sorter every time you play is bad. The copper golem helped a bit but it shouldn't be necessary

>>733520475
True
>>
the problem is they never gave you a reason to actually build things. there is like no gameplay reason to build a house or any structure. at most you might build something to store items, but thats it. so it makes most of the game feel kind of pointless.

One thing le bintage sdory gets right is that there's actually a purpose to build buildings
>get passive buffs from being indoors

Etc. Even these reasons are not enough, but it's better than nothing

you're retarded, all these years later and they still don't have half the cool shit tekkit had, terraria adds more blocks in one patch than minecraft has added in it's entire existence, minecraft was viral early on with shit like 1:1 replicas of the starship enterprise and they saw that and decided what the game needed was a sword cooldown
>>
>>733519981
People like you start a world, rush diamond armor, and then drop the world within a week.
Builders will work on a single world for years, you're a finicky and fickle fuck that cares about minmaxing in a block game.

No, I don't? I try to slowly play this shitty game but there is so much useless shit in it now I eventually lose patience and leave. They even had to make combat gayer

Useless if you don't have an interest in exploring that area, useful if you do.
I don't care much about Redstone. Does that mean that I'd be justified in saying it all should be removed from the game?

Here is my genuine 100% dogshit opinion: too many block options for building killed the creativity and fun of minecraft. Too many options and so many similar looking textures makes everything look too samey. It also got rid of the fun of trying to be creative by using lesser used blocks to pull off some kind of effect in your build.
>>
>>733526783
not to mention all "builders" copy from the big youtubers and it all ends up looking samey, and when you do things differently they are quick to point out how you are doing it wrong kek

MC was never a hard game.
You could always stack more meat than enemies could out DPS and turtle up to heal.
>>733526521
The thrust of this thread is complaining about too many blocks.
Building is just as intricate as redstone.
I'm using almost all the shades of stone the game has in this build I'm about 1/2 done with. And it would look much worse if I didn't have that ability, in my mind.

>The thrust of this thread is complaining about too many blocks.
no, it was complaining about too many items which fills up your inventory quickly for no good reason. adding a bunch of blocks whose only purpose is to look pretty while not doing anything to increase our inventory space is annoying.
if redstone's only purpose were novelty items like the ones I mentioned and a few pretty decorative blocks it would be rightly hated for being a useless ore, just like how copper is hated now for being a useless ore that's only useful for a few gimmick items and decoration
redstone is objectively a good (if incomplete) addition to the game because it expands the depth of how you interact with the world - now you can make a bunch of cool stuff with pistons, dispensers, hoppers, etc. and if nothing else at least it adds a few cool traps to certain structures
I don't think there's a single person who plays minecraft who's over the age of 10 who hasn't at least built one redstone contraption

the build looks like dogshit btw. using different shades of grey doesn't hide the fact that it's a formless blob of blockvomit. using more uniform colors would make it better and less grating on the eyes.

I could do a lot of this with less shades, but the build would look worse for it.
So why would I ever want less color granularity?
>>733527427
Post builds.
Can you build as well as someone like BdoubleO100 (a popular youtuber in /v/'s minecraft threads)?
Do you really think it takes less brainpower to be that aesthetically creative than to make a circuit?
My build is a mediocre little fort that I used to fuck around experimenting with using wall blocks on.
The kinds of stuff people who are actually good do, with using glass or the like to create shadows or senses of depth is very complex and takes a lot of grey matter to figure out.

If it was easy, people on /v/ wouldn't complain about how annoying it was to do.
>>
>>733519981
Minecraft started off as a builder game, other then bitch basic enemies, all of the pseudo-rpg elements were added later.
>>
>>733527859
See, all of those little doo-dads mean nothing to me because I find them boring to interact with.
Imagine if instead of wasting time dealing with Observers, they added black iron blocks and variants of Gold/Iron blocks so you'd be able to build things with more metallic textures. That to me would make the game much more fun.

We needed a proper Flint (stone) -> Copper -> Bronze -> Iron -> Steel -> Diamond progression

>>

I don't mind building stuff but I'm shit at it. I'd like to build myself a nicer house since I'm literally living in a cobble block but I don't really have an idea how to make a nice looking home, which blocks to use etc. I guess I should just boot up creative mode and play with it until I'm satisfied.
I'd also like to build myself a tower that hides my iron farm inside and can also be used as a roadsign but again this is much work and I don't want it to look ass.
Alternatively I could just be making castle #573 with cobble bricks
>>
>>733532949
>Terraria isn't a progression only game either though
Terraria isn't SOLELY a progression game, but it does accommodate the desire for a progression based action adventure game with sandbox elements on the side (sorta like bethesda games, too).
Minecraft doesn't really. It has the smallest pretense of progression gameplay with shit like ocean temples and the end, which is why its existence is so frustrating to certain people.
>>
>>733533142
You get better at building by building and tweaking builds.
Its sort of like that old myth about shaving facial hair off makes it twice as strong, except its every time you do a new build, it's better than the last one (provided you are trying to improve and not just making cobblestone cubes)

Shelter is not purely self-directed creativity in real life, it's totally sensical for housing to have some mechanics related to it.
>>
>>733532752
builderniggers are why trading halls etc exist. they want loopholes to get overpowered gear and a janky creative mode where they can retain the dopamine of "earning" items with farms.
it's about hyperrealistic megabuilds in "survival" for updoots.
it's their income or attempt at relevance. it's the same reason speedrunners didn't want to risk the iceologer slowing them down.
>>
>>733535372
trading halls etc exist.
farming in minecraft is either abusing exploits (iron golem farms) or content slop that nujang added to the game to fill it up with lots of random systems and mechanics like terraria.
