Very different type of handhelds for different audiences. Nothing to debate

>left still works fine after decades
>right slowly corrodes and explodes
the choice is simple

DS had better games (and more of them in general), but psp is a better system for video music homebrew utility stuff and all of that, also having analog stick wins the competition for me personally

wdym? Bought mine in 2011 and it still works fine

No one actually plays psp today

People buy it to larp as early 2000's aesthetics

PSP could do music and videos and internet
UMDs were also SOVL, same with that interface.

DS for the games, PSP for the hardware itself.

The PSP came with a built in internet browser and a firewire to USB adaptor built in. So you bought it to listen to music, watch movies, jerk it to porn, and play emulators in an era when smartphones didn't exist yet and when they did were still in their infancy and too expensive for most people.

Psp, I never liked Nintendos exclusives for toddlers.

I had fun with the DS.
I've only ever been annoyed by the OG PSP that I have because of the garbage screen that has black smearing so bad the only game I specifically got it for (MGS PW) was nearly unplayable.

DS wins.

I legit can't think of a single PSP game that's considered a classic meanwhile DS is full of bangers.

They purposely made it easy to replace the battery knowing how disposable it would be.

DS had a much larger library with more "acceptable" games. PSP had a smaller library and more games on the system were absolute trash, but the really good games on the PSP were much better than (almost) all the best games on the DS.

DS > PSP and it wasn't even close.

The PSP had a lot of good and original games, but it really couldn't compete with the DS. It was kind of the opposite of the PS2/Gamecube situation, where one system had a bunch of good games, but it just couldn't fight against the competition of backwards compatibility and everybody putting games on the system. Also like PS2 vs Gamecube, the losing system (PSP) had a proprietary disc system that made it a hassle for developers to bother with.

These days, there's still good original games on both, but I still prefer my DS over my PSP. There's just more DS content and even a few things on DS that I can use which aren't technically games, while the PSP is mostly just a portable emulation device.

MGS Peacewalker or AC!D, MH Freedom Unite, The Patapon Series, Lumines, Both Wipeout games Valkyria chronicles 2 etc... PSP had good games I would consider classics.. It just had a lot less games that weren't ports better played elsewhere or movie tie in games that sucked major ass. DS simply had so many games you're bound to get a mountain of bangers from every dev imaginable. Even the Lumines dev that makes a game per decade or something made meteos on the DS and its fucking amazing. Tons of hidden gems also. This is a PS2 vs GC situation. The bigger Library usually wins.
