Logs are used for Firemaking on F2P worlds. In P2P they're also used for Fletching. And there's also Hardwood Trees whose logs are used for Construction, Hunter and Sailing.
Your problem is mostly that low tier logs just aren't worth much due to their low XP output when processed. You would need to get your woodcutting level up and probably get to the P2P tier trees if you're planning to make money via woodcutting.

i can only give you my POV which is someone who played rs2 in 2004-2010 then started playing ironman in 2022-2023

first of all you need to accep that its a solved game that relies heavily on community knowledge, wiki should be open on your side screen any time you are playing the game. runelite gives you a button in game that pops up the wiki when you hover over anything. it will also let you unlock the game and actually play it like someone who's not just a gamer girl on twitch clicking trees but plays with a purpose and a goal, which is how most nerds who play the game play it.

second, you need to set up a goal and if you are new to the game you won't have a single clue what you're doing and you'll end up with choice paralysis and quit.

for me i simply started playing ironman and followed https://ironman.guide/guide idk if its considered good anymore but it will set you up with a decent midgame goal (barrows gloves) and efficiently run you thru a whole bunch of quests. as a main account (non ironman) you can choose your goal much more leniently but youre still gonna be doing quests a lot, for example to unlock anything endgame you will need to do like 100 quests and they will drive you insane if you dont use runelite's quest helper plugin.

basically it will boil down to playing ironman or playing a normal account, and deciding what kind of goal you want to set yourself. either way you cant really go wrong with setting a quest cape as your goal for example. there's way too much to go over and way too many pitfalls for you to fall into (like grinding for a bond f2p like you mentioned instead of just doing quests) but you unironically can't fuck up if you just start banging out quests. there are efficient early game quest routings for f2p i think you could try out one of those and see if it's the type of gameplay you enjoy, since that's what the game boils down for a lot of ppl who end up getting sucked into the game and staying for good.

I don't think it's really worth grinding for a bond on F2P anymore. You can do it but you'll basically just get a 2 week members trial for all the money spent multiple months making. Bonds used to be manageable, now you basically have to be close to end game to grind them without spending every gp you make

But f2p is much better than it used to be because they added a bunch of f2p bosses. AND f2p pking is arguably more fun than members because it's much closer to the original experience.

You should work towards beating dragon slayer ASAP. Or even better start an Ironman account and then do dragon slayer. Ironman accounts are more fun in f2p since you actually have to play the game instead of buying everything off the GE.

But once you get combat skills up and beat Dragon Slayer (which requires all other F2P quests beat) then you can start doing F2P bossing which they have expanded greatly in recent years. Used to be there were ZERO f2p bosses, now there are several.

You'd be lucky to make enough money for even 5 bonds a year f2p. They used be 1/4 the price they are now (like 4m vs 15m) AND the money makers that were accessible to mid tier players are no longer great money. Bonds were consistently 3m - 5m from 2016 - 2022 and then they just started going up and never coming back down.

I'm a free player only, literally only spent $10 once to get my first bond and never stopped after that but I don't even feel like using one of my 3 bonds in the bank anymore because I know I'd have to spend at least one of my two weeks doing meta-bossing to make 10m+ for another bond just to enjoy one week of comfy gaming.

So now I just f2p fish at barb village. Just hit 95 fishing btw.

You can grab their fish to cook on fires that are usually maintained by players for training purposes there on world 1.

If you really try to go for a free bond by grinding you are competing against 50,000 (probably more) bots doing the same thing driving prices down, and would get a bond about 20x faster begging at the GE

As others have said, just don't lock yourself into the idea of grinding out a bond. Bonds basically exist for two types of people: one, people who want to legally buy gold; two, main accounts which are in the endgame and earn enough passive gold from PvM to pay for membership. I'm not telling you not to try it, especially if you're playing a main account rather than an ironman. There are some really peculiar money-making methods involving the Grand Exchange, although I'm sure most of the F2P ones are botted.
