Personally, I don't really care, so I get by with a $4 mic that still sounds really good, but if I was chatting every day and outside of video games, I'd probably care a bit more about it sounding even clearer, or to be able to not have it sitting on my head and picking up my breathing.

>>733636154Discord has the built in Krisp (tm) shit, and Nvidia broadcast is really good as well. A lot of background noise removal is functionally perfect, depending on the noise and how much work you have them put in. Even OBS lets you modify your mic output for recordings/streams to reduce background although not as good for very noisy environments since at some point you'll be screaming into the mic just to get it to pick you up and the audio quality goes to shit. Background noise is a thing of the past.
I fell for the separate mic meme a few years ago. Never again. Fucking annoying have something in front of your screen in your face. Back to the headset mic

I need an interface either way for work. Would rather use some neutral beyerdymanics as headphones and a standing mic since I can use the mic to record guitar etc. too. If you don't do music a headset is fine but if u ever plan too, investing in a interface setup and real headphones is Def. Worth it.

My XLR mic is pretty much collecting dust, but the DAC of the soundinterface/mixer is really good so at least some use I got out of it.

I've had an antlion detachable headset mic and I'm surprised it has held up for all of 6 years, even though the cable sheath has gotten some cuts in it. If i ever had to replace it I'd get the wireless one to avoid that. Kind of a steep investment for a simple product but you get to use actually good headphones and not bother with a desk mic.
