If you haven't created anything in your life you shouldn't be allowed to have an opinion on any art form
>>
i took a fat fucking shit
>>
>Why are you calling that burning house a piece of shit? Have YOU ever built a house??
>>
>>733636791
"its burning" has nothing to do with its architecture just like a car falling down a hill has no bearing on whether the car is good or not
your analogy is very low iq mr /v/edditor
>>
>>733636765
Yeah but should and should nots don't mean shit so.
>>
>you think my ford fiesta is a piece of shit? well have you ever built a car your'reself?

define art now
>>
>>733636896
things (abstracts included) made for more than just functionality or standard usage
>>
>>733636923
>abstracts included
I've imagined making things, so I guess I'm good.
>>
I just took a massive art lads
>>
>>733636765
I created a poop in my toilet, so I'm uniquely qualified to criticize highguard
>>
I've created some rhythm game charts but that's pretty easy as long as the BPM is stable
Actually, making a BMS or any keysounded chart might be really hard. I've never done that though

I created beautiful and engaging content of various types right up until covid happened.
Then I saw what people really were, and I realized I had wasted my life learning to create beauty that would only ever be enjoyed by literally evil vermin.
I have been hollow ever since, and soon I will fade away entirely.

I always think it's quite on the contrary. Someone who has zero knowledge on how much tears, sweat and blood went into creating a piece of shit is honestly much better off airing their opinion on it. The one who on the other hand projects, sympathizes or otherwise views the process from a lens of their shared suffering will always be biased in one way or another.

I created this thread on /tv/ in 2020 and got 132 replies so I think I can criticize how successful other threads are

so art is anything where the creator had the intent to create art? if the creator did not intend something to be art, then it can never be considered art by anyone else?
>>
>>733636869
My current car is an old fiesta and it is indeed kind of a piece of shit, but at least it works and was dirt cheap. I vastly preferred my old ford focus though, may that comfy machine rest in peace.

Human expression, which convays more meaning than it appears.

This shouod encompass art, music, dance, writing etc.

so art can only be fluff? There can be no artistic merit to something designed to be utilitarian in itself? Say, ultra-performance cars or extremely aerodynamic planes?
What about extremely high quality ancient marble sculptures, or photo-realistic paintings, or even any painting whose goal was to realistically depict reality? Surely the creators were aiming for them to specifically not to have any more meaning than they'd ultimately appear as
>>

>>733637553
btw i'm just baiting here because the answer is simple and it's because the topic at hand is worthless
a far better point would be 'if you haven't designed anything you should not criticize a design process' but then it becomes a fucking 'duh' kind of a point
everyone involved including myself should be killing themselves anon
>>

>so art can only be fluff? There can be no artistic merit to something designed to be utilitarian in itself?
No, I never said any of this.
>Surely the creators were aiming for them to specifically not to have any more meaning than they'd ultimately appear as
Where did I say the artists intent matters?
As soon as some form of human expression convays more meaning to you than it seems, it's art. It doesnt matter if you, or the artist place that meaning there, as art is subjective.

A masterpiece that says nothing to you isnt "art" in your eyes, for example.

I got no complaints with it
