I'm going to get the Herman Miller gaming Embody soon. If it's not good I'm gonna blame /v/ for trying to tell me cheapo chairs aren't the way to go. I'm definitely not buying the Aeron.
If any anons can steer me away from this chair into something they genuinely find comfortable I'm open to suggestions but it can't be that other shitty chair. If any anons own one tell me how you like yours. The only negative I've heard about this chair is that the lumbar support in the lower back region is apparently hard and protruding according to some people. Sounds like a potential problem.

The recline action is ass, choppy sticky motion and the backrest doesn't follow you, you have to make an effort to sit back up, then the backrest comes up a second later. And the 5D armrests slide everywhere with no option to lock them.

The lumbar protrudes so that it forces your spine straight/supports it if you don't sit fully back into the backrest. I have it and it's been great for my back compared to the shitty Noblechairs that cost like $500
My only complaint was the lack of headrest, but you can get an aftermarket neck rest which works fine

Go to your local HM dealer and ask for a demo. They will let you sit in multiple chairs and explain their functions. Each of them has different mechanisms and unique features that others don't have.

>particular brand that has consistent good products
You want to find a brand that literally only has one flagship product if you actually have to rely on brand recognition. Whilst I'm not recommending anything an example would be how Anthros only has one chair, which is the Anthros. All their R&D went into one design and they stand by it. There's no such thing as consistent good products across a brand otherwise, in other words there's no answer to that question. The hardest part of chair making is sticking by one design that you think your own R&D team perfected and if you're selling numerous others it does not guarantee that the other designs were good.

Buy chairs that are used by people working in call centers and emergency dispatch institutions. Like airports, hospitals etc. This is the real cheat code
>>
>>733637426
terrible, non-adjustable arm rests that are too high, too sharp and the metal on the front digs into your legs
no dynamic tension adjustment
basically useless fixed lumbar support
non-adjustable seat depth which is too deep for anyone under 5'10" if you want it at normal desk height, not a problem for me but my gf had to use a foot rest
i had one, it was an absolute piece of shit
pretty sure you can buy chinkslop on amazon which will be better nowadays
people should save up for a real chair that will likely last them the rest of their lives, or get lucky on a second hand one
luckily i found a local ergo chair manufacturer that won a bunch of awards, a fraction of the price of herman miller / steelcase but the chair was like 90% there

>I ended up liking Mirra more than Embody but that doesn't mean you should buy a Mirra.
I'm pretty certain The Embody is the only chair I'll go with because of the foam fabric approach opposed to mesh.
I don't particularly think that highly of mesh chairs. I understand their benefits in creating the suspended feeling but i also don't like the feeling of the actual material. But maybe the Haworth Fern with the digital knit could change my mind on that since it pads out that part. Those are the two chairs I've narrowed it down to essentially. But the Embody edges it out because i prefer the backrest and the seat pan being uniform. I don't like gaps and separation of any sort.

Put towels over the seat and headrest and wash them regularly.

I have both the fabric and fake-leather variant of the Markus chair. I removed the armrests on both because they were non-adjustable and uncomfy and I'm using lumbar support pillows and coccyx (haha) cushions on both. Pretty comfy like that and one helluva lot cheaper than buying a 2k chair

>>733640797
You'll compress the padding faster than you'll dirty the fabric, unless you jerk off in your chair.

Any thoughts about that Ames lounge chair replica turned into an office chair? it's called Mathias Executive Office Chair.
It likely is the worst choice for most people since it does nothing to promote good posture. But I'll be damned if i don't make the observation that this looks like the most comfortable office chair of all time and within affordability.

Still I'm likely to go with the top Herman Miller choice because i know have to fix my shit posture at some stage. If i don't like HM's high end then this will be my next choice because most of the ergonomic chairs just look shit to me.

Its shocking how bad the community is around desk chairs for popular pc gaming and working from home is now, no one has any advice. >mesh seat
ehhhhhh. Some anon>>733640921
tried explaining to me why there is 'good mesh' but there is something that just really bugs me about the way it feels in either scenario. Not just the instances of backrests but i dislike the seat pans. The seats could be the worst offenders.
I don't like the hard edges. I dislike how the hard edges create a specific contour that enforces sitting positions. Maybe it's a less of a forced one sitting position experience as the Aeron but i can only speculate by how much it's lessened.
The Waterfall seat edge here on the mesh looks almost as bad as the Aerons sides that don't allow you to sit on the chair with two legs (or rather punishes you with pain for doing that). But in a completely different way i would imagine. I'm not sure if I'm misjudging by looks yet it reminds me of the unpleasant experience of Aeron. I think ultimately foam is just the better solution. Maybe i need to do a walk in to formulate this opinion better. Just my gut instinct is all.

The front of the mirra bends down and is actually adjustable so there are no edges to make contact with.
I keep telling to to stop trying to buy a 1000+ dollar chair based off of pictures on the internet. You might still hate it but then you know instead of guessing.

>Aerons sides that don't allow you to sit on the chair with two legs (or rather punishes you with pain for doing that)
one nice thing about the Mirra is that it does none of that and I'm not the only one saying it. you can sit on it however you want
as for the mesh itself, what's odd is that I found it to hurt for about two weeks, and now I wouldn't trade it for anything else comfort-wise. Mirra 1 was the same story, and going from 1 to 2 didn't let me skip the adaptation period either. my point is that mesh seats are weird, but whatever HM is doing with them works

The Libernovo Omni being propped up the by the electric motorized lumbar support is what kills it for me in gimmick territory. The massaging feature is the cherry on top for absolutely stupid shit. It also looks like unreliable chinkshit that will break down in 2 years or something. Yet we'll never know because the company hasn't been around long enough. I'd personally never take that gamble and just fork out more money. They could have made the chair far cheaper if they didn't focus on the gimmicks either.

I tried this in an IKEA recently and somehow it's their most comfy chair despite being the cheapest. Was about to buy it but I got a second hand office chair from elsewhere for cheaper.
Don't know how comfortable it will be over a long term but I'd like to imagine it would force you to improve your posture instead of slouching. Plus, you don't have to worry about it getting dirty since it's literally just plastic.

Heavy duty chairs are the ultimate richfag trap. You want a chair where you can easily move around. Thats why Embody is so minimalistic.
>>
y'all motherfuckers complaining about tearing fabric or fake leather on your chairs, just buy fucking chair covers? they come in all shapes and sizes and cost $15 at most each, ideally you just buy it with a new chair, but nothing stops you from wrapping your old one

It's pretty decent but I wish it had a deeper seat and a headrest that didn't require mangling the chair to attach.

I do understand however that its seat is not deeper because it's intended to keep office monkeys upright, not necessarily for me to lounge in.

Or just buy a real chair. Using covers and shit to make your chair look like the inside of some BPD nurse's Nissan Altima that she jerks you off in instead of just putting that money into a real chair is some ghetto IQ shit.

nta but I heard secret lab chairs are a scam, and as a result I went for a regular office chair last time I shopped for one. I've had a Steelcase Amia for a couple years now and it was totally comfortable for a while but then a few weeks ago I shifted the lumbar an inch and ever since it's been the most uncomfortable thing ever no matter how I try to adjust it and it feels like I've forgotten how to even sit in a chair normally.

Just take out the sponge from the lumbar support. There's a zipper under the backrest, you can unzip it and with some fiddling remove the sponge, but it's super tight there so be careful with your fingers.
It worked for me at least, it's much more comfortable this way.

To expand on this, I have some other problems with Markus. I have adhd and need to do something with my hands at all times so i keep absentmindedly scraping the gum thing off the armrests with my nails, but that's on me being a retard. Also, one of the two screws that keep each armrest in place snapped in half and I keep forgetting about it, so whenever i shift to sit cross-legged, which i do by lifting myself with my hands by securing them on the armrests, I risk one of said armrest just giving up on me. I fell of it more times than im willing to admit because of it. the armrest stays relatively in place when i dont do anything crazy with it tho, so im guessing the screw snapped somewhere deep in the hole.
>>733662459
I managed to squeeze in there from the zipped hole at the bottom, then with my fingers inside the mesh I unzipped the material pouch that makes up the lumbar support and took the sponge out of it. I left the pouch as-is, I think it's sewn to the sides of the mesh from inside but I dont remember anymore. I did it all without taking the chair apart somehow but it was genuinely pretty difficult to get that shit out.
>>
>>733663289
>I managed to squeeze in there from the zipped hole at the bottom
alright, I'll give it another try, that's what I tried to do but couldn't reach it, you must have really small hands anon...
>whenever i shift to sit cross-legged, which i do by lifting myself with my hands by securing them on the armrests, I risk one of said armrest just giving up on me.
I have the same exact issue with it as well, I just keep a tool on my desk drawer and keep tightening the screws, you can just replace them also

Anyone know what brand of chair this is? I forgot where I got it from and there's no markings on it that would tell me what company makes it

One of the arm rest pads is missing a bolt that connects it to the chair and as a result, it's swiveling on the one remaining bolt and is slowly getting more damaged as I press on it. I'm completely foreign to bolts so I don't know what kind it is. Would I be able to go to a hardware store and they would be able to tell me the bolt type?

Stop listening to retards that tell you that anything with some pillow or a cushy feeling is bad. Mesh chairs are so shit that i hate that people genuinely keep recommending them. If the chair brakes, I don't want a free all-steel colonoscopy as a result. I've had chairs break before and I've seen these chairs break before, and while nothing disasterous has happened, I just don't see a reason to risk it.
