The plot felt very contrived. It relied on tons of misunderstandings, coincidences, magic logic, etc. to keep the melodrama going. Don't get me wrong, melodrama is not bad per se but there a massive difference between an anime by Osamu Dezaki (king of melodrama) to something by Mari Okada like Anohana.
I see a lot of plotfags complaining here, just so you know, if it needs its plot to carry it, it’s bad. I’ve said this before, but Fata Morgana is abysmally written, if it were a book, it would fit very neatly among the LGBTQ+ YA slop that some privileged tranny second generation diaspora third worlder would churn out. Of course, I doubt the people who consider this trite the best thing ever written have actually read a single book in their lives, and as many have mentioned, it’s filled with more anime tropes than a lot of other VNs. The music was decent enough though.
