Are Hall Effect keyboard switches a meme?

I use a 5 dollar gayming keyboard.
>>
>>733639579
I really need to get myself one of those, my keyboards always develop key drift.

/g/ doesn't play vidya, what the fuck would they know?

What having no physical games does to a mofo.

you can set the actuation points really low, but it feels like a gimmick because are you really gonna retrain your muscle memory to not bottom out keys when pressing them?
either way the chinese wooting clones are fine and extremely cheap
>>
>>733639579
No but they won't turn you from a pleb to a pro. They are a nice feature, that is all. See also why people like the chonk on certain mechanical switches, it doesn't make them better at typing, it is just a more pleasurable experience.
>>
if you have anything other than a basic office membrane keyboard, you're on your way to trooning out
same applies if you have more than one monitor

Poverty is only a virtue if you're not seething and jealous about everyone else, pablo
>>
I like hall effect keyboards. Use a super sensitive profile for muh vidya and then a more normal one (something in line with cherry reds or so) for typing.
>>
>>733639579
Too tryhard. Just stick with good old Linear.
>>
>>733639579
If you don't have a use for rapid trigger then you don't need them.
>>
Everything about keyboards for gaming except nkro is a total meme to fleece you for more money.
>But streamers
Are shills, not gamers their job is to sell you products.
Even giving you the benefit of the doubt this thread on this dead board isn't just to shill crap to people that don't know better.

I thought my indestructible slav office keyboard from 2000s was be all and end all until it started ghosting when I had to press more than 3 keys in a vidya once. I had to buy some chink mechanical keyboard with stupid LGBT lighting, there was just no other way, at least it's cheap and works.
>>
having your keys register sooner is actually a useful advantage.
i had to basically relearn how to play rhythm games because i had subconsciously built in the extra time for my keys to bottom out to register an input. i was missing every single input because i was pressing them too soon after getting a mechanical keyboard that would register inputs as soon as the key was pressed down a little.
there's no reason to pay a shit ton of money for extremely "fast" switches that register as soon as you breathe on the button but if you're still on a membrane keyboard somehow you're fucking yourself for no reason.

>nkro
Total meme unless you are a tard that just smashes your face into the keyboard. No game needs pressing more than 3 keyboard buttons at once.
>>
>>733641010
What about basic typing, being too sensitive from just brushing your fingers over keys.
>>
>>733641229
we are on the videogames board so i'm talking about them in the context of using them for playing videogames.
honestly you get used to the hair trigger for typing too after a while.
most keyboards will let you set an actuation point so you can lower the sensitivity when you aren't gaming but i leave mine at the lowest setting at all times and only occasionally double type letters.
>>
I have an 80HE and don't regret it, but it's really not much of an advantage since the strafetech was banned everywhere. a nice feeling mech really isn't much of a downgrade.
Lightweight mice aren't a meme but you shouldn't buy anything until the market adjusts to logitech recent wizardry
Glass mousepads aren't a meme but it's really not worth its pricetag atm.
It's always better to put your money into higher FPS.

You can just say you're unemployed, it's okay
>>
yes. most of the peripheral bullshit discord trannies make up to spend money makes 0 difference in performance
they will jerk themselves off with mice that have holes in them, $100 mousepads , mouse skates and god knows what while the best cs pros massively outskill them with a Logitech mouse and a crusty mousepad
>>
>>733641780
The problem is that normie peripherals are increasingly overpriced without presenting anything useful or new to the consumer.
Most "hobbyist" stuff is equally affordable and a far better decision longterm in most cases. Doing even a little bit of market research shows that you don't need to spend stupid money to get something better than a fucking g502 or a $150 razer keyboard with the loudest switches imaginable.
>>
>>733639579
yes and no
vidya gaems need to start supporting analog key presses but the industry is in fucking shambles and everything is going downhill so it's not gonna happen
>>
>>733639991
My keyboard is full size though, troons only use circumcised keyboards.
>>
>>733639579
They are not a meme, but they also won't magically make you better. It's the kind of thing that only like top 1-10% of players can fully take advantage of.
>>
>>733639579
They're okay, I'll let you know in 10 years if mine still works. Being able to configure individual keys is nice, also it does the job of actually pressing the keys you want to press.
