Only 7% of people have beaten the Main Quest. Aren't people completing their games anymore?
I never beat my games so I can replay them indefinitely
>>733642656I probably put 300 hours into oblivion as a kid but never beat the main quest I never beat morrowind or fallout 3 eitherI beat skyrim on accident
7% is pretty high for Steam.
50 percent of people don't even beat the second quest. That's the point of giving 30 percent to steam, direct access to expensive digital thumbnail collectors.
>>733642656this has always been the case. achievement and trophy percentages have just made it blindingly obvious.
>>733642987Yay, but Valve good guy yes? Gabe need 1/3 of your sales, they deserve it.
>>733642656Nostalgia gotcha. People want to relive memorable moments of "your childhood game but in high definition". Once you're out of sewers and realize you need to play though same slog again, you drop it
>>733642656>start the game>do some main quest>do some side quests>level scaling kicks in and makes the game no longer fun unless you're a scalepilled minmaxxer on his tenth run of Oblivion>stop playing the game because it's not fun any morethis is what happens to the average Oblivion player since 2005. Bethesda did NOT fix it.
Oblivion's main quest is famously terrible and also locks you out of the most powerful enchantments forever.
>>733642656I spent around 70 hours on this game while I had gamepass ultimate. I just roamed around andid a lot of side content. Love the game though
I probably have like 3000 hours in skyrim and have modded it to shit and I've never seen the civil war questline or the anduin fight
>>733643073>THINK OF THE DEVELOPERS>THE POOR DEVELOPERS>THEY PAID UP TO 75% IN PHYSICAL DAYS>BUT THINK OF THEM>THEY PAY THIS EXTORTION-LEVEL 30%>THINK OF THEM>PLEASEShut the fuck up. Nobody cares. Show me a better game store.
>>733642656>betheslopmy guess would be they gave up after the 50th crash in 2 hours playtime
>>733643329>I will defend Valve even if they came in my house and then came in me
>>733642656>gamepassnormie install gamenormie delete game
>>733642656do achievement stats get counted amongst all owned copies or just games that were actually booted up and played at least once?
>>733642656game is a chore to play normally and you expect people to finish this garbage? lmao
>>733643490the profile counts, not ownership
>>733642656i don't have this problem with the games i have been buying, i actually have fealt the opposite, that 70percent of players are completionists.... but this might be because i have excellent taste , the games that i spend my time on are good enough for people to finnish more or if not all achievements.
>>733643461>can't show me a better storeI know you.>LAWL NUT SPEWNFIDIN U LAWL LAWL RUFFLES HAVE RIDGES LE MAYONNAISEThere's no better store, and Steam works.
>>733643490On Steam, it only counts if you’ve downloaded and opened the game. Even if you just sit on the main menu and never actually play, it still counts. But if you’ve never downloaded it, or downloaded it but never launched it, it won’t count. Some games have very low achievement percentages because the achievements were added after the game was released, and Steam has been tracking stats since launch.
>>733643659>>733643329Get your thoughts together Steamlet. You're starting to drool man, not like this.
>>733643830Steam says I've never played stuff that I played before the wipe.
>>733643986Name a better store. Just one. I'll wait.
The main quest is the worst part of Oblivion. Oblivion is my favorite game of all time and I have only done the main quest once.
>>733644038Youre beyond reason, I won't waste my time.
>>733643329The reach of steam is worth them taking the 30 percent, they also are handling so much bs for an indie developer its unbelievable and the reason indie games devs can even have a shot of success. Without steam or Epic, explain to me how me as a single dev sells my game at scale? the answer is : A: you buy a fucking factory to print physical copies of your game and try sell them yourself, or go to gamestop where they will take a cut (probably more than 30percent cos physical stock takes up shelf space)B: you make a website of your own, rent server space, hire someone to handle the accounting and sales, someone to handle refunds, spend extra on marketing so people know my website exists.. all those expenses add up to be an impossibility for a small game studio or solo dev... instead of all of that, i can gjve steam / epic a cut of the profits to get my game infront of millions of people.. then if the game is popular enough it gets auto-recomended to people who play similar games...Would you rather have 100 percent of a grape or 70 percent of a water-melon. Steam is fucking amazing for devs and gamers... you should get on your knees and bow
>>733644103Maybe GOG? No games and third world speeds sounds like a winning combo.
>>733644103What about Epic? This awful interface and no good library management. Maybe that's the answer.
>>733644103Xbox? It's missing a lot of games, and the interface is even slower than that of Epic. Not to mention the fact that it's permissions hell even getting to your own data.
>>733644113>Y-yes daddy gaben I will get on my knees, open my mouth, and spread my cheeks. Please take me however you like until you're satisfied.
>>733644103EA? It doesn't have third party games, and its interface is as bad as Epic.
>>733642656they get whatever streamer/influencer they pay attention to does but that doesn't last long
>>733642656I just got bored. It was kino just doing small side quests and wandering the world, doing dungeons and shit (not oblivion gates, those things sucked major balls after the first two) but the main quest was a drag
>>733642656I was abusing 100% chameleon in the thieves guild questline and ended up breaking the elder scroll heist so I lost interest in completing the rest of it.
>>733644103Also, faggot.
>>733644132>>733644223>>733644296>>733644417Uhh... what does this have to do with the 30% tax?
>>733645139What does this "30% tax" have to do with the fact that you literally pay 20%+ tax in the third world and that there's no viable alternative to Steam?
>>733642656I stopped playing it when either Narsis or Anvil came out for Morrowind. Can't remember which.Wanted to play new shit instead of the stuff I played 50 billion times 20 years ago.
>>733642656For starters, I don't buy remakes/remasters/re-releasesBut I played the original Oblivion for about 700 hoursTo see what the story was, I had to make a character to specifically bumrush the main questline, otherwise I'd get distracted.
>>733642656>Oblivion>main questLemme put it this way. If you are playing vanilla Oblivion, you dont want to conclude main quest unless you are willing to use an exploit. You want to level to 18, get as many sigil stones as possible to kit yourself with 25% fire/frost/shock shield, 20% magicka resist, 15% spell absorbtion, 50pt fortify magicka/health, before you go into Paradise, because once you complete MQ, sigil stones are bye-bye unless you cheat. The only other way (the Todd-intended way) is to do MQ at lvl 1 through 3, because apprently the world is scled to lvl 1, and player being over lvl 3 will fuck-up everything because level-scaling and level-scaled monster spawn tables.
>>733643119>Bethesda did NOT fix itIts easy to fix, yet even despire knowing and acknowledging that level-scaling is a massive fuck-up, they wont do it. They are fucking retarded to the basic level of human being. So what you need to play it are two mods: one is universal de-leveler (spawn tables, creatures, NPCs, loot tables), and the other one is a Morrowloot equivalent (for handplacing items).
>>733642656I always assume that modern audiences just jump from on FOTM slop to the other, based on what their popular streamer is playying.
>>733642656My current character has no interest in saving humans for free. I will do the main quest when I start with a holy paladin mace and shield guy
>>733642656It runs like shit
>>733642656>cherrypicking game with an exceptionally low completion % because most of the people who bought it just bought the remaster to fuck around for nostalgia >Aren't people completing their games anymore?i mean average completion %'s are already shit you didn't have to stoop to this, op
>buy big open world kino>just following the main quest like a robot instead of going on a big adventure doing whatever the fuck you wantthe MSQ completion should be even lower if you ask me
>>733642656Bethesda games are for fucking around with sidequests for 100 hours, becoming the head of several guilds, supernatural societies, or assassin cabals, and then wandering off.
>>733642656console commands and using mods disable achievements
>>733642656>not having a 500hr+ save without completing the main questdo you even elder scrolls
Oblivion is the only Bethesda game I never finished, not even once. I just don't go to Kvatch because I don't want to see the gates shitting up pretty landscapes.
>>733642656Oblivion is BORING. It's the type of game where once you've played 6-8 hours of it, you've played the whole thing. Every dungeon, every quest, every overworld encounter more or less repeats itself from there on out. This has nothing to do with "Zoomerbrain," because I had the same problem seeing it through back on release; I WANTED to like it, so I was constantly creating a character, dumping 20 hours in, then putting it down for another year, and picking it back u, but it just doesn't offer interesting enough gameplay to keep people hooked. While the other titles in the series are not perfect, they at least manage to be more interesting by at least offering more atmosphere, and more hand-crafted and thought-through places of interest to explore.
>>733652304*Not to mention the level scaling and randomized drop tied to level also contributing to the game feeling like it's on constant repetition.
>>733642656game runs like ass and the shitty level scaling turns people off
pclards don't play video games because you are always distracted by 4chan, reddit, youtube, twitch and random errors because PCs are dogshit for actual gaming
i played Oblivion for 1000 hours on my 360 and i'm pretty sure i never finished the main story on any character. worst part of the game
>>733642656Everyone remembered Oblivion was ass and stopped playing
>>733654234This, I played a shitton of Oblivion back in the day and never finished the main quest, it's a make your own adventure kind of game, only midwits see completing the main quest as this game's only purpose.
>>733654543It's not like you could trick this many people based on hype and nostalgia alone.
>>733642656>cant beat the main quest when the game runs the same on a 1660 super stutter wise as it does on a 5080
>>733655038>it runs the same on a budget card and a budget card
the 3 goys i know who bought the remaster on release got distracted by E33 and never went back to it
>>7336551815080 is the mid-range pick of its generation. And it's 4 generations newer. It's like the leap from 760 Ti to 1660 Super.
>>733642656i dropped it after buying arborwatch and couldn't decorate it because they fucked the physics up even more than they were in the original. and no, it wasn't worse back then, it's worse now.
>>733655748>from a budget card to a budget card
>>733655789You know 5060 exists?
>>733642656The fucking state of modern gaming lol, how much was this garbage? And only 7 of the consumer sheep that got nostalgia baited even finished it, no wodner everything's going to shit if this is how the average goy manages his money
>>733655896$50, $40 during sales
>>733655783>120gbWhat the fuck
>>733656474Highest fidelity assets made with love and care in Bharat.
>>733642656We're all using mods
>>733656642Does nu-Oblivion have creation club with paid mods that don't disable achievements?
>>733642987Just curious what percentage cut do you think physical stores like Walmart, GameStop/EB, or Best buy take? What about Amazon?
>>733657205It was about 50% for retail. The developer would make about 25% or less of the profit after the publisher took their cut. That's why Gabe is evil. He's letting developers get 70%.
>>733642656Reportedly, Bethesda didn't expect Oblivion Remastered to sell nearly as well as it did (it was just supposed to cash-in on core fans not become a mainstream hit). I think developers still underestimate the extent to which internet discourse preemptively dictates game success. For over a decade straight, a very loud segment of TES fans have been shouting to anyone that would listen how Skyrim is the worst TES game and how Morrowind and Oblivion are better. Eventually that sank in with normies. So when Oblivion Remastered came out, there was a massive audience awaiting it expecting "Skyrim but better".But Oblivion isn't a better game. Skyrim is an improvement in almost every way, especially world/level design. Oblivion's open world is more tediously repetitive than a Starfield planet. Even Oblivion's quest writing has become dramatically overstated by fanboys over time. Even mage builds make more sense in Skyrim (despite the poor damage scaling and lack of spell crafting) because spellcasters actually play differently as opposed to Oblivion where there's a dedicated cast key available to every class. So when normies tried Oblivion they quickly got bored and moved on. Bethesda of course knew all this ahead of time which is why they were surprised by the high sales. The one good thing to come out of this is it revealed TES is so popular, it doesn't even need marketing. So Microsoft/Bethesda will allocate more money towards the development of TES6 and save on marketing costs.
>>733642656you expect me to invest tens of hours into a video game?
