I played through DS2 without leveling adaptability, I had no idea what it did and I didn't want to have things spoiled for me so I never interacted with the community.

How did you like the game, in general?
>>
>>733643908
Compared to DS1 I found it a mixed bag.
I liked some things better, other things were steps in the wrong direction.
I liked it more than DS3 which I followed it up with, because it was more interesting even if it had some things wrong.

Ok, interesting. The typical knee-jerk reaction by DS players is: "all shit, not a DS game".
It was my first Dark Souls game, so I came into it as a blank slate. And I quite liked it. I played DS1 afterwards and then DS3 when it came out. I would say that the game has some of the worst environments of the series, but also some of the best.

there is a jank element to 2 that's not present in 1 or 3, it's not what makes it charming, but the game has charm
I really loved the environment in the snowy DLC, but the game was held back by technical limitation, I think I felt it more than in DS1.

Oh yeah, it sometimes definitely feels more dated than it should. Especially graphically.

By the way you don't need adaptability as a spellcaster since attunement will also raise your agility and unlike adaptability attunement itself is actually useful for your build.

As someone that played and beat Demon's Souls. Played Dark Souls 1 till Anor Londo but then dropped the game...
Dark Souls 2 was great. I loved it until the Shaded Woods when I dropped it, pre-DLC.

Later on after beating Bloodborne, and DS3 (Vanilla), I went back and beat it with the DLC. It became for favorite of the three Dark Souls games.

>I liked it more than DS3 which I followed it up with, because it was more interesting even if it had some things wrong.
This is pretty much how I feel about DS2. It's the old, "It's better to be bad than boring," adage. DS2 has a lot of interesting ideas that weren't iterated on, were iterated on in worse ways, or were actually refined in future FromSoft games. Unique NG+ cycles returned in DS3 in a much more limited form, for example; and Elden Ring really refined DS2's emphasis on the RPG half of the ARPG formula, while also failing to iterate on DS2's immersive details.

That said, I do not like DS2 or DS3 as a whole. In DS2's case, the actual content of the game - the world design, the level design, the enemies and bosses, the combat mechanics, the story, the art direction - varies in quality from inoffensive to fuck-awful. The best content is in the DLCs. Most of my memories of DS2 are of the base game, and even now I tend to play it instead of SotFS when I do get the urge to do another DS2 playthrough - which makes the base game's flaws much more apparent as I only own the DLC in SotFS.

DS2 ultimately delivers on very little of what I want out of a FromSoft game, but it's interesting in its own right.

>Another episode of "I like DS2 because...it isn't like the other games!"
As usual DS2fags can never mention what is actually good about DS2. Usual routine DS2 contrarian attention-seeking bait thread.

I haven't seen the DS2 WebM-spammer in a minute. Normally he's here 24 hours a day to lecture anyone and everyone on the superiority of DS2, specifically the Scholar of the First Sin version.

Same

I go for 16 adp and no higher most times though because that puts you on par with ds1 in terms of iframes

I got the image from google. It's a screenshot from reddit if I remember correctly.
I'm not going to go into the game to take a screenshot myself, just to make a thread.

Really that's the only way to play Souls games. People love to rewrite history but Souls got pozzed even before DS1.
>>
>>733643852
based, that's a valid way to play the game and emphasizes the strengths of movement and spacing

Now please tell everyone the last time you played DS1.

Yes ADP is an absolute nothingburger scapegoat to not git gud and adapt
DaS2 is still the best

have you considered therapy?

PVP was best in DS2. Huge amounts of builds and plenty of covenant activities too. There was plenty of goofy things that kept it memorable like popping a tree seed on an invader.
