Because New Vegas wasn’t good in the first place. It was built on a good foundation tough. Any seasoned RPG veteran understood it used the rhythm of classic crpgs without any of the nuance that made them interesting. Its fans always deflected with “b-but fallout 3/4 BAD!” like 3/4 was even aiming for the same audience that NV did in the first place.

And the answer would be: Its too safe.

While its not that pozzed/woke/whatever they're calling it these days, there's a lot of marxist slant to the characters and themes in the game that make it inherently boring.

There's evidence in there that it could have the same spark or charm their games used to have but its like everyone in charge of writing and world design has cooked a little bit too long on social media and are no longer able to ride that fine line that keeps things grounded and sober.

The joke is no longer "look at all these factions and how they're all silly" because the joke has become "look at all these factions and how they're dumb because they're not our superior workers' rights marxist way of thinking."
