I've done some super-rigged LTC runs and some reliable low turn count playthroughs. The former I don't recommend, it's like playing a new game entirely because your units are invincible and crit whenever you want. The latter is more like an optimization of normal fire emblem and it's a lot more interesting imo. If you don't want to do too much math then try an ironman run in which you take as few turns as possible.

If I had to pick between the two, I'd actually go for Wade. He has better base luck and better luck and skill growth that will be handy for using FE6 axes. Lot doesn't get much needed hit+ from his Anima element, but Wade does from Fire. You can give him Shanna's support to help a lot early on and slow burn either Alen or Echidna supports for later.
