How safe are 3D artists from AI? If this is the kind of work they can make, I think we’re safe. I’m sure the shareholders in AAA could look at the savings they make when they lower their standards to this kind of quality, but who wants to work in AAA?Even if it somehow starts making good topologizes models, you have to properly UV unwrap it, texture it, rig and weight paint it. I’m not one of those people who thought AI drawings couldn’t get to the level of quality that we see now, but the job of making a 3D asset for rich furries who want a new avatar seems like a job that AI can’t really do for the next decade

They want to get stuff done as lazily and fast as possible but with clean results. The problem right now is that AI devs are always trying to skip the process and go for instant results and that shit doesnt work. The models are too ass and are painful to fix and most of the time theres already either a gajillion similar existing models to pick from the market or indians who will do a better job cheaper.Stylized ai 3d art sucks because its both slop and inconsistent.Theres two things where the money is at though. A) include ai in tedious processes like UV mapping or rigging. Theres a lot of potential there but ai devs are still too greedy to go for "simple tools" B) ai alone wont be the solution, a mix of both will be. A solution for commercial renderings will be a mix of a simple 3d scene which ai will polish, there are already workflows where you build a basic scene in unreal and then let ai polish it. The 3d scene will make sure that theres consistency which ai sucks at and will also make sure that angles are right.But whichever way is going to be successful, artists will rule it. Not because of their learned skill, but for their autistic dedication to adapt workflows and doing sick shit with it. An artist who can do ai will always outperform a rando who can do ai, its all in their obsession of creating stuff (and the self-loathing).1/2
