Even the cynical Taion doesn't protest against it. If you go back to Colony 9 early enough, this can happen at a point where Taion still isn't sold on the idea of fighting alongside Kevesi soldiers despite knowing this war is fake because you can't undo a lifetime of hatred in only a month. In fact, Taion's motivation is regret at his friend being killed in a Kevesi attack. I get it, they know the war is bullshit and the real enemy are Moebius. But my point is that the character development ends up really disjointed because of how XC3 is structured.

She has faint memories of when her colony made Gold and then was eaten by Moebius which causes her to turn inward more. Sena is a tragedy of a character. Because her whole thing is manufacturing a personality she thinks everyone will like because of her own lack of identity. Just for her biggest moment to be usurped by Gondor in one path and Segiri in the other. So Sena continues to not have an identity even after what I would call a character arc if there was a point B to point at.

You could have a scene with the two arguing the loss of these specific people. Especially since the premise of the game is "we did X because you did Y." Or "war forced us to bloody our hands." Or all the other shit XC3 WANTS to do. No Takahashi. Faceless nobodies actually don't tug at my heartstrings and neither does the nebulous concept of "war sucks." Adapting "old school MMO-esque" gameplay ideas into a singleplayer experience is much more feasible, but even then you're probably not making the most popular thing.
