Nintendo DSi or Nintendo DS XL? I already own a New 3DS XL but I don't like the way DS games are rendered.
Hold start or select before a DS game boots to put in native 1:1 pixel mode. If you have an XL it's literally the same size pixels as a DS. The DSi is great tho. Never had a DSi XL, but I heard it has a very good screen.
It's strange how people may complain about the pixel density on 3ds xl, but no one does about the DSi XL, which is even lower.

I assume you mean DSi XL vs DS XL?You can hack a DSi and load games off an SD card, with a regular DS you'd need a flash cart.If you meant XL vs non-XL, I'd get an XL unless you plan on carrying it in your pocket regularly. The regular size DS's feel tiny by today's standards.

DSi XL is the best for DS games because it has two decent IPS displays and no weird scaling. 3DS displays are dogshit and you need the unicorn that is dual IPS n3DS XL to even approach the DSi XL and even then it's not as good in terms of display quality. There's also the scaling issue.Ayn Thor is also a decent alternative since it's OLED and the resolution is high enough it doesn't matter if it's not integer.

DSi XL has better screens but the DSi has better density. Comes down to personal preference. I like how big and chunky the pixels look on the XL.
