Odyssey is a black mark on the series and I am so glad with Shadows they learned tons of lessons from the hate for this game and focused on tightening many of the mechanics and even writing up even at the cost of Yasuke.

The entire EXP system is balanced around it existing.Mirage went back to classic AC stabbing, only combat is RPG-based and you just parry everything anyway.Shadows reworked the whole system to be based on HP bars and stabbing removes HP bars. 90% of the enemies in the entire game can be killed from the tutorial area's setup as long as they're within your level range because you can immediately upgrade Naoe to 2 bars and then find a hat in one of the very first trials that gives you another bar. The only enemies that have more than 3 bars are endgame enemies (Who are rare) that have 4 bars, Elite enemies (Which almost never spawn anywhere), Guardians (Which only one entire fort in the game even has if you haven't alerted the region which you pretty much intentionally have to do), and Corrupted Castle boss enemies which have 6-8. Even then Naoe can naturally have 5 bars of removal, 6 with a hat that gives her some, and 8 if she uses Rush Assassinate with a kusarigama. It's by far their best compromise and implementation of the system.You can also just play the baby difficulties on Shadows and have instant assassinations as well. It's really just Origins and Odyssey stuck with it, the RPG stuff is more for regular combat, and even then Shadows made that far better and made Legendaries the best weapons in the game again so you don't even need to grind anything. Anyone in the overworld with more than 6 bars is meant for Yasuke to fight or kill like this guy or the guy in the ship in the Claws of Awaji.

But here's the thing: you don't. Just use this option to have grindless old-AC experience, pure running, fighting, assassinating without stupid "you are underleveled for this enemy" thing. Last thing you do is to check an option that game levels-up enemies to your level in the whole map, so you can enjoy content and have some great fights, some easier, but overall feel that if you die somewhere in game it's just because of your misclick, skill use, misjudgement, etc. and not because game decided that your level& gear rating = you win or lose, like binary code, because that's how it feels when you start to play normally from level 1 and gear tier one. Anyway, great game, totally worth checking, especially if you dig ancient Egypt. This is the only existing game in current history of gaming, with that deep level of detail depicting what we currently know about that ancient civilization. On that part, this whole design it is a pure masterpiece and a work of art.

All the Gold Edition gives you is one DLC pack and the season pass (Which you should just Cheat Engine in the rest of if you're on PC). It doesn't give you upgrade packs. You can even do it in Odyssey, Valhalla, and as far as I know Shadows, you just can't get infinite lootboxes in Odyssey because from Odyssey onward you need their online-only currencies like Orichalcum (Odyssey and Valhalla) or Animus Fragments (Shadows) to get the Helix Store items or loot boxes (Odyssey only). I've done it on my PC save for Origins years ago with no issue. If you really don't care then no biggie, just putting it out there since you're on PC.
