They weren't great at remaking games (And when you're not the original dev I think it's basically impossible) but it does suck that they closed down
They were a really, really technically competent studio that probably could have made some good original stuff if someone talented was leading the charge, like if they were an outsourcing studio they'd be excellent

What is an outsourcing studio

They were already a support studio

>They weren't great at remaking games
That was their only job and "not great" is extremely generous considering they butchered every game they remade and their remasters weren't very good either
>but it does suck that they closed down
No it doesn't
>They were a really, really technically competent studio
No they weren't
>that probably could have made some good original stuff
If they could have, they would have. They didn't, because they couldn't.

I sitll don't get how you can break game logic that is tied to framerate, say you didn't notice because your testers are just too good (even though breaking such logic would impede skilled play) and then just never fix it.

Shouldve stuck to ports and not remakes. They have no artistic vision, only port technical ability.

Bluepoint closing was genuine good news. They existed only to cause ruin to other peoples' work. I wish their remake catalog disappeared with them. Hopefully future ports of Shadow of The Colossus and Demon's Souls will be based on the originals.

the demons souls and sotc releases were the worst of both worlds when it comes to remakes vs remasters. gameplay was more or less one to one but they burned large amounts of money on making uninspired "hire this man!" assets that spat in the face of the original artists. it's the kind of gig any untalented game dev dreams of, to be handed the source code to an undisputed classic and allowed to play around with making cheap "hd" assets, earning a healthy paycheck for an untold number of years.
the fact they were given a shot to make something original using a namebrand IP like god of war and couldn't cook up literally anything of note says it all. the conventional wisdom among braindead gamers that they were some kind of legendary studio full of talent is a bizarre psychosis
