I was being nostalgic and playing Sly 2 Band of Thieves on my PS5 and I gotta ask this. Why is this game so good? It's literally 10/10.
Good writing, wit and charm, nice ui and overall presentation, and it cycles through different forms of gameplay often so you dont get bored or feel like its repeating itself. Its basically a college course in good game design on a disk.
>>733687751It's just plain fun, all in pretty well paced packageI've come to prefer 1 in a lot of ways but 2 is still excellentNeyla isn't nearly as good as the OG clockwerk as a villain thoAlso as a kid it really bothered me that the clockwerk model in 2 looked quite a bit different than how he did in 1
>>733688236I just kind of assumed some of the parts were rebuilt either by actual scientists or Arpegio.
>>733687751>Sly is 10/10>Infamous is 10/10>Ghost is 10/10If Sony shutters Suckerpunch I'll be pissed.
>>733688363Yeah i chalked it up to imperfect reconstruction more or lessAlso forgot to mention that 3 was okay too but just not as tightly done, like the other buddies were pretty gimmicky and the bosses not really as memorable. Still fun but kind of a step down from 2 generally
>>733688554To be fair they only had a year of development time and the game was rushed. Sly, Bently, and Murray's actors mentioned this in some sort of podcast or at a con.
>>733688709Didn't know that but not surprised given how fast Jak 3 and R&C 3 were churned out. It's amazing how good the PS2 trilogy of platformers came out even with the increasing action focus from title to title and the insanely cramped time schedules.IIRC Sly 3 had a decent bit of time from 2 at least.
Are we still not allowed to talk about Sly Thieves In Time? Also will die on this hill and say Sly 2 Band of Thieves is the best in the series.
>>733689480Sly 4 was mediocre but good enough not to embarrass or lower the series.
>>733687751Huh, only time I played this was when they had a kiosk demo at kmart. The trilogy still worth going through? Emulate PS2 or PS3?
>>733690403Oh yeah absolutelyJust emulate PS2I hope they get pc ports someday like the Jak games
>>733690403Don't play the PS3 version. So many bugs and glitches with the PS3 version. I played it on my PS5 and it wasn't worth it. Sly 3 was really busted for some reason. Playing the PS2 version of Sly on my PS5 right now and it's amazing.
Carmelita Fox influenced me too much.I don't remember which game (think it was 1) but I recall a section where I could see Carmelita shaking her fist at me from a distance.I opened the binocucom and zoomed all the way in, and just watched her shake her hips for a while.Being gay was no longer an option at that point.
>>733687751Magic? idk. I think 1>2>3 they nailed the platforming, and item collection. You can't have a good platformer if picking up coins is painful.
>>733691116angry latina fox ladies will do that too ya
>>733691116Being a furry is a better alternative imo.>>733691305Or French or whatever VA they decide to use next. 2 was the best voice in my opinion. 2, 3, 4, 1.>>733691281Very true.
>>733690639>>733690714Thanks anons, been wanting to play a platformer for a while. Although I did get bored of playing Jak 1 during it's first hour, this one looks way more enjoyable on charm alone
>>733691479i should replay jak 1 but the mods so far dont seem to add new stories or powers
>>733691116For me, personally, it was Murray.
>>733691675he was letting all that hang out
I'm playing Sly 2 now and it's a chore. I liked the first game a lot better. Walking around a city over and over is boring. I prefer the curated levels of the first game. I remember reading on forums that Sly 2 is the best but I'm not feeling it.
>>733691830>or hell the Sonic Friends from Sonic the Hedgehogt. has never played a single sonic game and has solely consumed the franchise via talk on social media
>>733688236The original Carmelita VA is so much better.
>>733687751>Nostalgic for thisHoly zoomzoom
>>733691675My dick on the belly.
>>733691281You can turn off the interlacing for a clearer picture.
>>733691830>>733691864>>733691912>>733691882>>733691986Are you like a sharktalefag for this? Are you fucking Yoel? What the fuck are you doing here?
>>733691830I played the first game recently and I forgot how hard the racing levels were. I beat it through pure luck as a kid.
>>733691830The non-Sly missions should be optional. The other characters are just not fun.
>>733692326>not having fun bashing heads as murray>not having fun sprinting around as bentleyfag
>>733692104>>733692326I can't tell which of the following you are.>A Sharktale fag wannabe who is going to later post random gifs of the game they like along with "fun facts" about the game and oddly it's director to make us "love and aplreciate the game even more">An edgelord who just decided to come here just to say fuck the furries to which yes in some degree but you're taking it too far asshole.>The classic /v/ contrarian who will eventually get BTFO'd so hard with literal facts and logic about how much of a stupid mother fucker they are it gets screencapped and now all of facebook and reddit knows how much of a retard you are.So which one are you my puta? Because you can't be all three.
>>733687751A timeless classic. Top 10 PS2 game, for sure.
>>733691864The carefully crafted hub worlds are one of the many reasons it's considered so good.
>>733692603>my putaActually I'm curious, which nations do you thinkhas the most Sly Cooper fans?
>>733692603what the fuck is sharktalefag
>>733693152He was an anon who was prevalent in the early 2020s over at /co/. He had an obsession with the dreamworks film Sharktale and despised the fuck out of Shrek and Shrek 2. Calling it a cinematic masterpiece and strangely having a boner for the director and writer for the film and films with staff related to it such as Astroboy. He would invade every fucking thread and keep posting "fun facts" about Sharktale and gifs of scenes while explaining why the scene was "amazing/funny". He became the most annoying mother fucker of /co/. I think he's still there but from what I've browsed he's mostly gone. Probably did commit suicide like he said.
>>733691386Why was her VA constantly changed?
>>733694452Running gag
>>733688236I like the way Sly 2 evolves the concept of Clockwerk's hatred, that it's so powerful that it continues even beyond death.Whether it was Neyla or Arpeggio who fused with the machine, it doesn't really matter, because the threat was always Clockwerk regardless.
>>733689480I think that Thieves in Time is better than 3 unironicallyThe only problem with it is the performance issues in the back half and the loading timesIf we could get a port/remaster that cleaned that up it'd be solid
>>733691116Dam good woman.
