Nah this game doesn't do that, I hated Air Riders for that it pissed me off and I wish it didn't do it and you could wait for a full lobby. If I play at like 4am I constantly get the 'broader search' option appear after search timeout and get matched with Japs, so it's definitely pulling real players. Players also respond to fake serves and spinning on the court.
