Let's talk about obscure JRPGs we played as kids that no one else remembers. I love Pepper Box!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b98WNjnAeDU
Woaaa there you had me at female shota lover
>>733695908He's around 16 or more (sequel is 6 months later) so not quite what you think.
>>733695978Oh well
>>733695801Is the Dreamcast game and the GameCube game the same game? They have different titles
>>733695801Oh hey someone played Evolution. That art style doesn't do it justice.Prince Eugene's fight theme is stuck in my head forever.
>>733696107Evolution 1 And 2 on the Dreamcast is Evolutions worlds on the GameCube.
>>733696107GC combines both games together but cuts a ton of areas/characters out of the first game, so it's mostly the sequel.
>>733695908she made me feel things as a kid... any other characters like this?
>>733695801I started on NES, but I don't think there were any JRPGs that most people aren't familiar with. Games were more expensive back then, and so less common, and it's not surprising that little kid me was more interested in the fun action Marios over the slower JRPGs. The two least common games I remember playing were Lufia 2 on the SNES, and (as a WRPG) Ultima 4 on the NES. But I think everybody on this board is familiar with those two.I wasn't a kid at the time, but I had a lot more niche JRPGs on the PS1, PS2, and Dreamcast. Time Stalkers is a Dreamcast JRPG that most people probably aren't familiar with. Chocobo Dungeon 2, and Torneko: The Last Hope, were pretty fun on PS1. Steambot Chronicles on PS2 is something that a lot of people might know but probably haven't played. Ephemeral Fantasia on PS2 was pretty fun, as well.I do remember playing Evolution on the Dreamcast, but never really got far into the game.
>>733696501wow, love that art style!
>>733696479Can't think of any from video games off the top of my head besides obligatory Lady Palutena ....
>>733696479>>733696570Minerva from Grandia 2 spends a bit of time flirting with Roan, the young boy who joins the party. It's not really something that lasts more than one scene.
>>733696707Yeees, the girl on the left is so hot.
>>733695801I hate this artist. Everything he draws legitimately looks like it has downs
>>733696812disagree, there's a tasteful bimbo vibe that is appealing
>>733696707Is Grandia 2 good? Loved the first one.
>>733696963Yeah it's solid. The plot completely falls apart towards the end, and it's linear as all hell. But the main cast is fun, the battle system is great.Just stay the fuck away from Grandia III.
>>733696963Also is it actually related to the first game?
>>733695801I played it as an adult but Summon Night is woefully unknown.
>>733695978thats not the point
>>733696963Yes, I really enjoyed it. It doesn't have the same going-on-an-adventure that Grandia 1 had set up, but I did like having a different story to play thru rather than just rehashing the first game. Game mechanics are a bit better (you don't have to grind weapon and spell levels anymore) and can be abused a bit as a result. Max out everybody's first combat skill if you want to completely break the game.
>>733697112It has a few call backs here and there (monster design, some items, a few music tracks), but otherwise no.
>>733697091Good to know. The first was pretty linear too so I'm not surprised. I just hope 2 isn't so mindlessly easy.>>733697112>AlsoWhy are you parasitizing my post? Just ask regularly.
>>733697112>Also is it actually related to the first game?None of the Grandia games are related to any of the other Grandia games, outside Grandia: Parallel Trippers on the GBC.
>>733697178What do you mean?
>>733697245>Why are you parasitizing my post?nobody knows you bro
>>733697275>Grandia: Parallel TrippersI don't know what the ass this shit is but it can't possibly be bad if it has more Sue.
>>733697245It's easy, and can be completely broken if you really want to (Millenia's Eye attack, Tio in general)The recent rerelease has a "hard" mode which makes things a bit more difficult, and I believe the Dreamcast version has a hard patch as well.
>>733697331I'm not your bro.I can see why you didn't want to make your own post and get answers if you're this much of a weird asshole.
>>733696501>Time Stalkersfucking loved that game as a kid
>>733697389schizo
>>733697343>I don't know what the ass this shit isYou get teleported to another world, you run into Feena (and eventually Justin and Sue) and it's a more standard JRPG where you're running around. I don't think that the story really relates to what happened in Grandia 1, more just you have the characters and the locations in a more typical resolve-the-problem story. Combat isn't the traditional Grandia, but it does use an odd draw-cards-store-MP-for-attacks from what I remember. It was described well enough, if you actually play it.There's a full english translation on romhacking if you want to check it out and give it a try.
>>733697275Grandia Digital Museum could be considered a sequel.Since the whole "plot" is Liete wanting to build a museum to remember everyone with, and once you complete everything, you see her tablet is colored red.
>>733697606
>>733697275Grandia 1 should be played on Saturn, right?
>>733697091>>733697245>stay away from the best game in the series???
>>733695978I don't buy the 3000 year old dragon line and I don't buy this either.
>>733695801I give it four days and the aftermarket on the game will shoot up by $200.
>>733699517Emulation is free!
>>733699439If that's your fantasy, I guess

Going to post a few. First up is LAGRANGE POINT for the NES. This game sees you taking the role of a pilot sent to the Land 1 space colony to investigate the lack of communication. What you find is a population living in fear of the BIO CORPS, a race of transhumanist mutants who have already taken over the Land 2 colony. The game is a pretty prep and strategy heavy RPG for the NES - Rent a car, charge your batteries, and delve through dungeons with four of nearly a dozen party members to choose from across three worlds. Notable for incredible graphics and being the only Famicom cart to have the sound chip Lagrange Point has, giving it audio on par with PC-98. It is also well known for featuring detailed cutscene art.Lagrange Point is Japan exclusive, but a very good translation patch exists.
>>733702387Rude
>>733702390Thanks for letting us know about the translation status
Next is Metal Max Returns. This is a Japan only Super Famicom remake of the Famicom exclusive game Metal Max. It has an English translation patch via Aeon Genesis. Metal Max, and its remake Metal Max Returns, puts you in the role of the Hunter. The Hunter is kicked out of his house by his pissed off tank mechanic father for fostering dreams of being a monster hunter. See, the world of Metal Max has ended. Humanity barely scrapes together in the ruins of cities. Mutants, robots, and bandits roam about the world and blast it into an untamed wilderness. One of the most unique features of this game is that you can find, drive, customize, and fight with a number of tanks. Hundreds of items, equipment parts, tank modifications, and party load outs means no two people will have the same journey through this almost entirely open world adventure through the apocalypse. You can find a number of side quests with charming characters, help fix up a town, earn your dad's respect, and even hunt dangerous bounties. One of the best games on the system, easy.
>>733702638I definitely recognize that cover artist
>>733702494Just using legal terms
>>733702176ancient gamer
>>733698409What am I supposed to play to understand this game?
>>733699517he doesn't have that much pull
>>733695801Bump for interest.
>>733708906I'm interested in the woman in the middle.
>>733697152Is this game in English?
>>733696159Sooooo gamecube is inferior? The review score looks shitty.
>>733697091Huh? Why? Looks mighty fine to me.
>>733709735Yes, it's shittier and the dub sucks.
>>733697152Most people only know it as swordcraft story and even then most didn't complete the series thanks to the third one being stuck untranslated.
There was a button in this that would say stupid shit and sometimes it said>Sexy! My sister thought that was hilarious and would just mash the button until it said sexy again
>>733702638The newest one in steam got censored and self castrated to hell and back
>>733697152I just started the one on psp, that was localized by gaijinworks.
>>733709885wincest?
>>733713907Come on, /v/ suck off this game at least three times a day every fucking day. Be original.
>>733697226Same universe?
>>733695801>Evolutionposting in 2026Damn son, this was my first proper JRPG. Everyone thinks Gre's a nice guy until there's a rifle in your face.
>>733716092His multi turn charge move was powerful as hell
>>733714754I’m sorry!!
>>733710813That one has a really bad localization.
>>733709565Nope.
>>733695801Yeah pepper was baste and my favorite.>>733696107The gcn game is essentially the sequel with a super short and butcher overview of the first game. If you have the choice, I'd play the game on DC or DC emulation.
>>733695801nice, Ill try emulating it>>733697275Grandia mentioned, dude in the thumbnail looks similar
>>733709801It is fine. The gameplay is good. The issue is that the plot and characters are painfully generic. Not bad, but extremely boring and forgettable.
>>733701357Grandia 3 has the best combat which is the only notable thing about the series to begin with.
