Do (You) guys ever name your characters/summons/whatever something stupid when you get the chance?
>>733696136yeah i name barret niglet on my yearly ff7 rerun
no
fucking autists
faggots
>>733696406kys
I decided on Sleepy Time on the Marginal Maze because when it's her turn it's nightnight for the enemy
>>733696136i name them after characters in whatever my recently watched anime at the time is, like a tard
>>733696136Not often on my first playthroughBut I may indulge in stupid names on replays
>>733696136in mh stories 1 and 2 i had an aptonoth and arzuros named GENUFLEXIO and SACCHIOTTO, will do the same with 3
>>733696136If it's a game like FF or something I'll just stick with the default. Otherwise, if it's a soulslike or MH or some kind of ARPG with character customization I always just go with Fere or Asali or something based off of my username. If it's a game like DRAPLINE or Robot Girl's Dream, I'll do minor corruptions of the default name each playthrough (e.g. Terebi -> Teebi -> Tebby -> Tear -> Ebi -> etc.)
>>733696136
>>733696136I once downloaded a end game Zelda save file and the faggot who posted it named Link "shadow". I fucking hate these retarded faggots naming characters cringe shit instead of the actual character name.I you name Link anything other than Link you're a dipshit who deserves the worst in life.
>>733696136>I'm gonna name the character my user name>I'm gonna name the character after my selfDie
>>733698930lmao
>>733696136depends on the game. ff7, or something similar, they get their canon names. a game where no one ever says your name, like monster hunter, i'll call my guy something stupid. if it's a game where your created character is referred to by name, i'll pick something normal.
>>733699063what emulator and crt filter is that?
I don't get why they let you do this in ten anyways. It just makes things weird when they don't ever actually say Tidus.
>game has canon MC name>doesn't have default filled inWhy they do this?
>>733696136Grew out of it.If the game suggests canon char name I use it.If it doesn't I have a bunch of names I usually use, picking the one that wouldn't stick out like a sore thumb in game's setting.
Main char gets my name that's about it.
>>733696136I have a moderately stupid name that I use for my guy everywhere there isn't a default. But in an FFX it is Tidus every time
>>733696136only once in final fantasy 7>barrettDaddy B>cloudnigga>tifabitch>aerithho>red xiiidawg>yuffiebooand I didn't get any farther in that playthrough
I always name myself The Funk
>>733699635Emulator is just whatever in Retroarch, which is irrelevant.Shader is Hylian Curvature in Shaderglass (an older version) with input pixel size = 1x.
>>733700347Mangina haver detected
I'll look up canon names if there's none provided (I regret not realizing there were some for a few older games that don't fill in the default) and make up something otherwise. I usually don't do silly names, but I do try to name all my created characters something different.>>733699712In old-school JRPGs I guess devs still had the hope that the player would immerse themselves, but JRPG fans are happier about a preset narrative than playing a role for the most part. I don't remember any games past PS1 doing this anymore.
>>733696136i remember running around as "faget" in OoT3D on Hero Mode.
>>733696136No, that's retarded. It makes you giggle once and then you're stuck with something stupid for the rest of the game, ruining your ability to take the narrative seriously and immerse yourself in it. One moment of pleasure vs several hours of pleasure.Same deal with making a retarded looking character in games with character creation, the novelty wears off after like five minutes and then you're just stuck playing something a six year old would make and ruining your ability to take anything in the game seriously as a result.
>>733698930
>>733696136No that's Reddit
>>733696136Only pokemon desu
In many old games, leaving the name blank is how you got the canon names.
