What's the /v/erdict? For me it's not even close the first game is better. I think they did a great job improving some elements of the sequel but it's like comparing a polished stone to a rough diamond. They made 2 significantly better optimized, better character models and not nearly as many bugged quests compared to KCD. That said KCD2 falls off hard after the Trotsky region and the quests+environment weren't as enjoyable to explore. I think the combat "improvements" just made the jank into difficult jank with enemies dodging way more often and armour seemingly irrelevant. I seemed to get destroyed by random bandits in just gambeson in KCD2 while in KCD I could take on 2-3 by mid game no issue. Anyway feel free to votehttps://strawpoll.com/BJnXVYvdkZv
KCD1 is better but I like both. Both games are at their best when immersed and the sandbox aspects are more pronounced in 1. 1 also has that weird feeling where encountering your first enemy out in the wild is delayed so long it feels like the first time in amnesia TDD you meet a monster, you almost forgot the game is about fighting bandits.I really wanted to like KCD2 but it's played too safe, and ends up losing something KCD1 had. Overall I think KCD1 is maybe 9.7, and KCD2 is 9.0. Though part of the blame also lies in KCD1's ending. Henry should never have been low nobility.
>>733698032KCD2 is always going to feel inferior simply because it’s a sequel that’s mostly identical to the first game, which worked back then. With new releases every two years, it doesn’t hit the same anymore. It’s a good game nonetheless I love both of them. And you know, a baller move would be to combine both games/adding the KCD1 regions into KCD2. But that would probably mess up the narrativeIt sounds stupid and experimental, but if I were WH, I would’ve released a single player DLC that lets you play in survival mode as a custom character without voiced NPCs
2 dumbed down the combat for no reason, while i'm glad alchemy wasn't as repetitive the henry level potions are practically gamebreaking.i liked most of the side quests and the dry devil gang was funny, finding pebbles again was neat but the main story suffered greatly, you kill istvan way too early and erik being teh final boss was hilarious. i couldn't believe how well the game performed technically, and my machine isn't that great by 2025 standards. never got any bad frame drops even in the city. it was a good game outside of the main quests, but i'm not really holding my breath for a third game, if they even make one.
>>733698032I like em bothOne of the only sequels that actually feels like the same game
>>733699237>>733699524What did you guys think about Trotsky region vs Kuttenberg region? I thought the first 40 or so hours in the first region was awesome narratively+exploration wise but the 2nd region was just average as fuck. Went from a 9/10 rivaling the first game to a 6/10 for me. Having not even one church explorable was beyond retarded. They had enough resources and time to do it. I haven't played any of the DLC for 2 yet but such a vital aspect shouldn't have been DLC in the first place
>>733699742For me trotsky was 6/10, by the 2nd map I lost any interest to continue.
>>733699742I explored every square inch of the first region in KCD2 and even ran along the outer boundary of the map looking for secrets, I think I spent 100 hrs or something on the 1st map and 40 on the 2nd map so I was pretty burnt out by the end
playing through pic related on my Series S holy shit they did such a good job improving the console version. 1440p with between 50-60FPS on such a cheap console is based as fuck. I remember playing through this on my PS4 Pro and getting 20FPS with 1080p in some areas like Rattay and during big battles like raiding Pribyslavitz. It's amazing what a competent team can do to optimize with even a cheap 2020/2021 console like Series S
>>733698032>That said KCD2 falls off hard after the Trotsky region and the quests+environment weren't as enjoyable to explore.honestly this. every village is the fucking same, there are too many of them and they are spread out super far, there are tons of inaccessible buildings all over (like churches, which should be awesome to at least step into), and all of the quests are really dull.>enemies dodging way more often yes the infinite stamina of enemies is quite irritating. poison is by far the best way to handle combat.>armour seemingly irrelevantenemy armor is irrelevant, but your own armor matters quite a bit. the difference between getting hit in a proper armor outfit and getting hit in your stealth gear is immense. hell, sometimes you get hit in your armor and you dont even take damage. good luck surviving more than a few hits without armor. >I seemed to get destroyed by random bandits in just gambesonthen skill issue. both player and character. increase your combat skills to be more impactful, use a sword (and a good one at that) because the other weapons are objectively inferior, and be sure to actually approach combat intelligently (like not getting surrounding. picking people off with ranged poison arrows. sprinting away to reset positioning/targeting).another problem i have is that the economy is non-existent, and theres hardly ever anything worth stealing in boxes. its so easy to find the best gear in the region, and then theres no reason to ever even check if something else is better. even in the "process" of getting better stuff, upgrades are so few and far between. sometimes you can find an interesting book or a quest item in a box, but its a complete crap shoot if it even exists. 90% of boxes (chests, shelves, bags, etc) are just filled with worthless junk. even "valuables" dont even matter because you can just steal the money the shop keeper would use to buy it from you, and anything you want from a shop you can just steal anyway.
literally the only reason to engage with shopping is for reputation manipulation.
>>733698032I played the first one and couldn't get past 20 hours, the combat is so fucking boring and clunkyis it fun after 100 hours or something?
