Post the cool demos you find, and maybe the not so cool ones. Devs please shill your games ITT, this is your chance to be seen. Even demos that aren't part of the next fest as long as they are good. Talk about videogames

There's wardrum that I found. It plays somewhat like FE but each turn has you perform attacks and spells by pressing buttons on the beat. Entertaining but I'm not a fan of the artstyle unfortunately. Maybe you will like it

click "install" and not "add to library"
they'll be removed from your list when you uninstall or the demo gets removed
>>

To add to >>733700821 , there's the option to "Remove from Library" if it's a free game like a demo if you want it purged from your list. Under options iirc.

Like this the most compared to other backpack battler slops. Konfronto was the most similar but that game was much more memey. I like how weapons and other tools use up resources, but at the same time you need to figure out if you can just wing it if your resource shows a negative regen number. Like my build I couldve probably gotten more bullet guns since I was capped at 50 ammo from the start and my two bullet guns didnt use that much. While inventory hull slots are easy to come by you also are punished with items taking a bit longer to activate if you go above every 20 hull slots or so, so you can either go small to avoid that or just go build wide to fit a bunch of items.

It's a bit difficult to understand defensive items in this game, I have no idea whats good or not and people have shit like stealth which I havent seen in the shop yet. Also you instantly upgrade most items by buying a duplicate, the game doesnt have a recipe system where 2+ items makes a completely new one.
Only other negative I had was that some items can only be placed on the edge on a hull, and also the hull slots can also be restrictive by not allowing you to connect the hulls on certain areas like one of the wing hulls.

>>
I'm undecided on lootbound.
it feels bullshit that stacking 4 armors gives you +100 armor but getting attacked by two enemies is already -200 armor and -100 health.
there's no way to manage multiple enemies reliably, they will get turns, they will chip you. unless you roll some god items early.

Cozy arcade driving game.

https://store.steampowered.com/app/4106550/Dungeons_and_Warbands/
Another one in the category of "turbo junk but kinda fun"

https://store.steampowered.com/app/3541820/Galactic_Space_Guard/
Old-school tactical strategy game about space marines who are trying not to starve on an alien infested space station.

https://store.steampowered.com/app/4176460/Dungeons_of_DUSK/
Very snappy dungeon crawler that chronologically takes place in between episodes of DUSK.

https://store.steampowered.com/app/3265700/Vampire_Crawlers_The_Turbo_Wildcard_from_Vampire_Survivors/
Presented as a dungeon crawler but it's actually another roguelite deckbuilder. Dev definitely knows his stuff about addicting game loops though.

There are few more games but the list is already getting too long.

I'm playing it right now and it seems to be the game /v/ shitposters pretend Disco Elysium was, down to the pretentious vacuous prose about nothing, mini-rants about fascism shoved in for no reason, the entire skill of Statehood (meant to be like Authority but it just chimes in with militant commie reactions to world politics), female protagonist that sees misogyny in the most minute details, the female narrator also isn't very good
There are some occasional nuggets of good writing, I like the skill/exert system, and the art is cool, but DE was truly lightning in a bottle and this game just feels like a lazy ripoff

It's alright, it'll probably sell alot. Presentation-wise it's really good, but i like it alot less than Balatro gameplay-wise.
>won Round 12 with a Silver Coin build. Had to get a bailout with the bankruptcy shake because I had a fuckhuge magnet silver stack that wasn't scoring.
>Bad Coins despite being the closest equivalence to bosses (and it's very loose by that standard) feel like they have zero presence. As much as I dislike Balatro's boss design, their effects are immediately present. Genuinely didn't even realise there was a bad coin active at one point in the run until I hovered over it being buried under a coin pile and the negative effect was trivial.
>inherently feels like there's significantly less direct interaction with the game state. Pretty much everything is down to just guessing the outcome. When you perform a set of scoring moves in Balatro, you have a general idea of how high it'll score (based on the actual hand mult x chips indicator and your score in previous hands), Here it's just a massive gamble and the variance on similar sequences (i.e. coin tossing) is insane in comparison due to shit like the state of the board coming off of the previous rounds, the spin reward, just the coin physics.
>thoughts on the items in pic.
>I really dislike the coin-buying system it's going for because it feels contradictory. I think the intention is that you're meant to build up a scoring/scaling board (e.g. building up pig coins, having chummy/relics linger around), but then you can't because you have to score it (which you have no significant control over) in order to actually pass the round, which just demolishes the potential to scale.
>Then to double down on that, your scaling is dictated by shop RNG, the main reason why I think silver build works is just because it's the only coin that can be consistenly generated due to its item. Umbrella is basically a must-grab for this reason since it unfucks it.

I hope it's something the dev has only been working on for a few months because holy fuck it's rough, and doesn't even have many mechanics
If the market for this shit wasn't dry as hell this wouldn't even be worth looking at in this state

>Airframe Ultra
I don't know what some of you fags are talking about, this is the most fun I've had in a multiplayer game in a long time
We don't get anything like this very often, not the aesthetic, not either the racing or combat gameplay, and certainly not all of those things together
It's also weirdly deep in places it absolutely did not need to be, you could probably throw together an entire game out of the kicking mechanic alone

>Beetleball
Pretty neat class-based soccer-type game, kinda like rocket league but with beetles running and jumping over things and playing keep away with a growing ball of shit
I suck ass at it, but there's a ton of different bugs that do all sorts of different stuff, fun to look through and experiment with

>Map Map - A Game About Maps
A puzzle game about using cartography tools and your best estimates to place markers in the correct spot on a map while exploring little environments
I like the premise but it's kinda shallow, no idea how they're gonna make an entire game out of it

Like I can't get over it, everything is a physics simulation just for the hell of it
Tons of weapons just have ridiculous extra behaviors, baseball bat can be used to home run grenades, the crowbar has a parry, shotgun blasts you back 5 feet and can be used to jump higher
The mario kart catchup mechanic is that the cops show up and try to rape the leader with a gatling gun
When you host a lobby you can wander behind the room containing all the match option controls into a locked vault and grab a gold gun that autokicks anyone you shoot with it
There's a traffic sign weapon that's just a lance you can joust with

Do devs really not think about why conventions are the way they are?

WASD is the standard for most games, since they also use the mouse.

Maybe I'm just old and too used to arrow keys + ZXCV or whatever but I find it really hard to believe the muscle memory for a thumb on a thumbstick somehow translates to WASD unless you're holding up your keyboard and thumbing it. It does explain why the devs are mapping the left thumb stick to the left side of the keyboard but I wish they would at least have the courtesy of allowing players to rebind the controls.

Every writer I've ever followed turned to shit eventually when his luck ran out. It can happen on the 5th installment, 3rd, or even on the 2nd. The less I know about the author's gay orgies and opinions on Droomph - the better. I started hating Spec Ops The Line because I was one of the naive fools who had the super cool "This is just a story of a broken man spiraling into madness" interpretation only to read developer commentaries about how it's actually just you being an evil gamist chud who killed brown women with chemical weapons and should feel bad about it, and I couldn't pay Spec Ops anymore because I realized that the signs that I am the evil gamist chud were all ingame all along and I just missed them and now I see them and I realize the game is shit.

Bobo Bay is pretty nice. Very blatantly rips Sonic Adventure's chao garden and does it well. Demo gives you 10 days to fuck around: You find bobos, compete, scavenge fruit and scraps to sell, and work on restoring the town. Most of it's nice except for the scavenging, which just happens on these tiny scattered islands you jetski to. This game had a demo for a while now. It got an update not even a week before the Next Fest version, and the boss (actually, every enemy) was harder there. I'm not sure what's going on with that but there's definitely promise of harder boss fights. I liked Yasha way more in that last version too. I think Mightreya has a lot of potential, I've had fun with the demo, but they really need a few more passes on the technical side of things, from the camera sperging out when there's more than 1 target, the constant clipping into walls/falling through the floor. The game feels like you're in DBZ when everything works and horribly disorienting if anything at all goes wrong. Also I would like it if the game actually applied and saved changes to settings.

To me it felt a step up from Assault in terms of map and enemies (given Assault was legit stock unity asset maps half the time, this is a given), about the same in story (Reya is literally just Amaru as a girl personality wise, the pink haired girl is a copy paste of his pink haired girl with bigger tits) but worse in the combat.
Even ignoring the technical issues, your moveset is actually tiny. You have R1, launch or plummet, R2 and grab. Half of those require you or the enemy to have a meter at a certain level, the blue gauge or their hp. So 99% of the time you are pressing R1 and launc+followup just for style points. Punching them down feels pointless. nNo followup, damage isnt' good.
Hopefully main game adds more variety via buying skills
Oh and you can taunt too. But it makes you super vulnerable, can't be cancelled yet gives no resource and barely any style.

Even if I end up not liking it, I hope it does well. I really liked Assault Spy and want to see its dev do better

>Attacks were faster. You couldn't just dodge on raw reaction, you had to anticipate it
>Boss changed up attack patterns a lot more, which forced difference in dodge timing and allowed for the fight to become more dynamic

The core of the fight still was "attack and dodge on reaction". But that's not all the fight was back in 9.1. In 9.32 (which seems to have reverted him to 8.2) the fight struggles to extend beyond that.

I haven't played Assault Spy but I'd caution not to be fooled by the small moveset for Mightreya. Sounds better if it was combined with the boss stagger bar staying broken for longer, similar to assault spy
He recovered so insanely fast in the demo I played it felt like a completely pointless mechanic. Especially since the third time I did it he just jumped full screen away from me instantly anyways.

>>733714357
Such as what, specifically?
And as someone who played DMC3 through DMD like 5 times, comparing it to that actually makes it sound like it has LESS variety. Because high level DMC sees you using LESS of your moves because a lot of them simply aren't very good.

Really cool fantasy submarine simulator. You're helping the pilot operate the systems, computers and controls of a fantasy miniature submarine. Old soviet theme, computers keep rebooting and glitching. Very well thought out. I just have a hard time seeing how you're supposed to operate everything yourself. Would be a cool co-op experience. Wishlisted.

Wait, before I answer your other question, do you not actually know about DT values? This is kind of important because I might have to adjust the explanation depending on what you do and don't know about this sort of stuff.

Okay so when I say "the top-level DMC3 everyone knows", I'm referring to the game that is played with DT values. And when I say the DMC3 everyone actually plays, I mean the game as it's "meant" to be played at a basic level. They're not at all the same game despite being part of the same system. The point I was getting to with that was that the basic tools to play one game or the other both exist in the same space, but are just put together differently to allow for vastly different options. Thus creating a sort of "different game" altogether.

To answer your question about Mightreya tech you can
>use your movement options in the time you're allowed to teleport after followup to carry inertia and reposition yourself + displace the enemy post-teleportation, instead of just appearing straight in front of the enemy and stopping them
>hold the left stick in any direction during ANY knockback, and depending on your position relative to the camera, directionally influence the path in which the enemy ends up falling towards
>Do a lot of neat "little" things that compound into a whole moveset in and of itself. For example, you can charge your teleport attack, use the grab from a distance, and then use the teleport ASAP to then outright swap positions between yourself and the enemy. For another example, it's possible to do reversals in this game like DMC4, where you do "reversed" versions of the move and manipulate their backwards hitbox
Just to name a few examples

This opens up your combo and skill expression game by a lot. It's better than a whole new weapon set in that instead of having more tools that do the same thing, it's tools that exponentially increase the value of what it is you already have by giving everything you do way more unique niche in possible followups. What would've only been 3 options to follow up then effectively become 7 instead of 3 + 3 more versions of the same thing.

>>
>>733715095
Gonna ignore the DMC shit because we're talking about demos and the current captcha system is way too fucking annoying to argue about irrelevant games.
As for Reya
Literally nothing you posted is actually fixing the issue of the moveset being tiny.
That's all just using the same moveset very slightly differently, often for no reason at all when you can just facetank every enemy in the demo and parry anything they do

In no way is that better than having more than like 5 attacks.

I was hoping you meant hidden tech like how there's a taunt it never tells you about, not "you can mash R1 BACKWARDS and teleport for NO REASON"
>>
>>733715270

>>
>>733715321
>In no way is that better than having more than like 5 attacks
It absolutely is better because the value of an attack is decided by their exact niche and function. This is just true at any level. The reason I brought up DMC3 isn't because I'm making a 1:1 comparison, but because this is just universally true no matter what game you play. DMC3 was just an example. It's why games with far smaller movesets can still be exponentially deeper and more interesting than games with seemingly infinite options.

Also don't appreciate how, aside from the fact you chose to turn this into an argument for no reason, you're also strawmanning my point.

The 3d animations and models look really well made too.
In rainbow legends you flip up tiles to your color and you deal damage with more tiles in your color then the enemy, or you can also hit their core with your cards

Back in 1964, men invented jiggle physics. Well, a man did, but it was and still is popular to act like we invented something we had nothing to do with.
And so the boober genre was invented; games focussed on boobs and how they jiggle.
Bounce, they would. Big ones, small ones, perky ones, flabby ones. Every man would see a boob he likes and see it jiggle.
A few homosexual men even added man boobs to the mix.
A few even made the women fat.
Unforuntately, THEY got offended. The woke. They woke up and made us remove them. Not just from games, but from history. All boobers never existed. We set technology back 30 years to cover this up. How could you have physics back then, they would ask?
The blobber genre has nothing to do with this.

This was a curious game, it's like something in between Silent Hill and a Souls-like. You explore areas with fixed cameras and there's plenty of combat with typical Souls-like mechanics, but your guns use magic which refreshes quickly so you can either play it safe with your guns and stick to range or mix ranged attacks with melee to be more aggressive. You also have a spell that makes you immune to damage for a short window which lets you get more melee attacks in by using it together (it activates instantly).
Beyond that it's got some simple puzzles and a few horror segments. The gameplay is serviceable at best but it still has me interested in it overall.

It's been common practice on Windows since 7 to save anything related to a program to MyDocs or %appdata%, due to Permissions conflicts that may arise, especially if something is installed in Program Files. It also makes it so the files are per-User if more than one person uses that PC.

Japanese roguelite that has elements of a deckbuilder but doesn't really play like one, you pick up gear as cards but you don't draw through a deck of them, you just have them all in your hand at all times and they each have a limited number of uses before they break, also there's a little QTE for each attack too which dictates which target you're hitting when there's multiple and also if you crit or not.
Pretty text heavy opening and the art is doing a lot of the work but enjoyable.
>>
>>733720735
It doesn't. I've heard rumours/vague promises of a PVE mode at some point but it seems very much like the dev is focusing almost exclusively on PVP right now.
Which, fine, whatever it's their game. But it's SO ANNOYING because the game is so cool in how it handles but actually playing it against other people (especially if they know even a fraction more than you) is a fucking drag.

Sometime in the last couple years (I think it was at steamfest) I saw a teaser trailer for a game that looked something like a grimdark rainworld. It was a 2d platformer you played as some sort of amorphous alien blob and there was some sort of conflict in the background and you were trying to avoid the war machines. It looked interesting and I have been wanting to check in on it. Unfortunately I forgot the name, does anyone have any idea what game I am talking about?

main story is around 10-12h having or take you skill level, exploration is legitime insane, there are too many secrets and its own path of pain(which you can skip if you want, thank god) so a 100% will be around 20-22h, i suggest you to wait a few months before going in, the devs are adding things like voice acting, so in 6 months it should be much better than now.

Race fetishism is lame and gay because your self-esteem is so abysmal you're imagining women liking you for THE most basic superficial features you have instead of imagining yourself as actually attractive.

Music themed final fantasy. Kinda feels lackluster, like it needs more polish (animations seemed wonky, basically no background sounds, weird glitches in the dialog sections). Gameplay seemed fairly standard for the genre. Didn't bother finishing the demo. I'm a bit surprised, I thought there was a decent amount of cash involved in this.

I'm torn on this one. Looks fantastic, plays nice enough when you get used to the moveset, but the only choice that seems to actually matter so far is the one before the boss (which REALLY matters, seemingly). Or I guess two choices. The one before the boss and the one after. I'm not sure what the full game can do to remedy that considering it seems to be a clear cut case of "good choice vs evil choice" and the evil choice straight up chunks you out of one of your 4 "soul tokens".

the harder difficulties make her bigger. but if the help screen is anything to go buy then her tits will get so big that they block your view of the board. i'm just hoping we get to see a good progression of breast expansion. i want to see areolas peeking out, then part of the nipples, then the whole nipples, then the shirt rip open. i really hope there's lactation in it too since she's like a cow yokai of some sort

I'm probably overrating it, but I have a soft spot for economics/trading games (Offworld Trading Company, Machiavelli the Prince, EVE Online, Book of Travels) to the point I'm willing to ignore the fact that it's AI slop. One of my favorite games of the last fest was Q-UP which funnily enough I ended up buying and beating several times despite the fact that I never wrote a review for it and that scratched the same itch despite being a much better optimization/incremental-type game.

The blue arrow always points to the right direction (plus yellow paint).
The blue guy's gameplay sucks and the roguelite mode was boring, but the red girl is fun and her bouncy tits in the pause menu are nice.
I just hope they add more weapons in the full game to spice things up since level design really isn't the dev's passion.

I didn't know what to think about it either. It seems like it's mostly just an art and gameplay demo to get people to back the Kickstarter and has jackshit for the story even though that's supposed to be a huge part of it. It really does seem well made but it's hard to feel strongly about it. I'll check back on it when it's done.

The first four levels were soo shallow and slow, the choosing cards felt basically meaningless since there wasn't any challenge. Had to quit.

I don't mind the ones that are only using cards because they look neat like Annihilated (no deckbuilding, you always get the same cards every turn) and Vampire Crawlers (slot machine simulator), and One Turn Kill from the last Next Fest (similar to Helen's Mysterious Castle, you use math to solve puzzles disguised as combat encounters).
