Just beat DQ V and really loved it, honestly would put it on my top 10 RPGs list. Amazing concept and journey. Now I've read up on some of the other entries and I do get VIII and XI have a lot of praise, along with III but if I am honest VI is the one that catches my eye most with its concept. What do (You) think about it?
I adore 6, its a top 3 game for me alongside 5 and 7.I understand why people don't like it though, it's very grim dark for a dragon quest game and the ending is a downer.Plus there's an annoying stealth section where you have to follow an NPC without being caught
>>733705780Yesterday I was setting it up on RA just for it to be ready (although I decided I'll emulate it on PC instead) and the sprite art completely blew me away.
>>733705686The fan patch for the SNES version of VI is buggy as fuck, fair warning. Save state often and do NOT check your entire party's status at once. When will someone bugfix that patch? It's been almost a decade and a half and nobody has ever bothered even attempting it...
>>733705686just play whichever you feel more inclined to play, all DQ games are good and there's no wrong choice, I love 6, it's one of my favorites but it can be a little tricky if you're still not too familiar with how Dragon Quest games play out, but worst case scenario you'll just have to refer to a guide sometimes, or be thorough and play while taking notes on the side
>>733705686It's outsourced and it shows. Really bad overall.
>>733705686I like DQ6, but it was a bit too bloated for its own good. Granted DQ7 was much worst on that point.Aesthetically speaking, both 6 and the DQ3 SFC remake are my platonic ideals of what a DQ game should look like.
>>733706591Yeah DQ5 (on the PS2 version I played) also had this really dumb bug where if you start the game and don't hear the main menu theme (which I wasn't even aware of honestly) and you get to when Papas gives you the map, the game freezes basically lol and have to keep restarting the game until you hear the main menu music.
>>733705686I played the first 2 hours of the DS version or so and it seemed fine to me but then again I don't like most dragon quest games I've played.
>>733705686I beat the DS version of 6 nearly ten years ago, and I don't remember much but I know I enjoyed it
Its shit11 > 8 > 3 > 5 > 6
>>733705686>What do (You) think about it?It's pretty great, although leveling up jobs is a bit ass since it's so vague. Also it's easy to get stuck once the game really opens up, but luckily there's fortune teller who almost always tells you what to do next.
Tania is too precious and must be protected.
I'm playing 7 reimagined (never played the original) and i don't like it much. i'm 40 hours in and mastered all the vocations but i don't care about the story at all. might quit and get 8 on an emulator instead
>>733705686>What do (You) think about it?One of my favorite mainlines, I love the dream world shit. Like the other anons said there's a few obtuse parts you might need to look up the solution for.
>>733710298>only found out on my second playthrough that you don't actually have to fuse with her brother before the boss fight so she gets to say goodbye properlysmile status: protected if only slightly
>>733712095>spoilerHuh
>>733705686I like it a lot. I think it has one of the strongest first acts of the series and it genuinely baffles me that the cast isn't as popular as it should be. Carver is a total bro, Milly and Ashlynn are both best girl material, motherfugging Amos and Lizzie need no elaboration. Fuck Nevan. Can't stand that little cretin. He'd be more tolerable if he was an ojousama nun, but nothing can be perfect.
