Outlast came out 13 years ago.
Silent Hill 2 was 12 years old at the time.

It should have been more influential because most of the once I played that came out since then have been riddled with unsolvable puzzles, at least Outlast could be finished with out a guide.

>Strictly first person.
>Heavy emphasis on stealth and scripted chase sequences.
>Inability to fight back or interact with enemies at all.

Outlast didn’t impact the horror genre; It was just another title riding Amnesia’s wave,

The hide and seek gameplay was intention with outlast, then lazy game devs took it and saw it as a way to not put any sort of combat mechanics in their game because programming combat, enemy ai, health mechanics, health items and actual exploration would be difficult, please understand

Except Amnesia was an actually good horror game unlike Outlast
