I hate Leon's magic potion too, but the point is him over Chris. RE5 was about Chris meeting RE1 characters again. RE7 had shitloads of Chris cameos including a DLC starring him. I don't even want to bother describing what he did in 6. None of these are coherent after RE1, and without Mikami, they come off as fan fiction. Compared to that, the guy from RE2 is more palatable.
