Why do people miss the Wii U era again?
>>
>>733713412
WiiUsnoys and cubies like to roleplay as nintendo fans because those are the eas when nintendo was flopping
>>
>>733713412
>Last console that lived and died on its exclusive library
>Exclusive library was actually pretty good
>Well rounded indie support
>Miiverse
>Tons of personality in the hardware
>The progenitor of the UMPC/Hybrid handheld via the gamepad
>God tier hacked console
>God tier controller
>Three consoles running natively in one box
If you don't get it you'll never get it because IQ is a fixed number that wont get any better for you
>>
Contrarianism. 2013 - 2016 fucking sucked. That era was so bad for consoles that you were genuinely better off staying on PS3.
>>
>>733713559
Funny because even back then they had the GBA and the 3DS
>>
>>733713561
Oh and who could forget
>Followed up by a soulless shitbox that half lives on the WiiU releases repackaged
>No more Iwata so immediately after the WiiU nintendo went full jewish
>>
>>733713412
Because everything nintendo do is perfect and flawless. It's why even the virtual boy shit is sold out everywhere right now
>>
>>733713412
eh
miiverse was a treasure trove
wiiu pro controller was god tier
everything else was mid as fuck. a few bangers and nothing else
>>
>>733713561
how does the Switch 1 and 2 not live and die by their exclusives
>>
>>733714429
>Like 3 exclusives a year
>Everyone basedpogging about playing XYZ multiplat AAA/Indie game ON THE GOOOOOOO
Switch's are like ipads. Gen 7 features the last true video game consoles.
>>
>>733714429
Duhhhh i dunno maybe because it has 1 million fucking ports on it propping it up? You fucking retarded dumbass?
>>
>>733713412
Holy fuck that is a big drought
>>
>>733713561
>Three consoles running natively in one box
You can't put gamecube discs in it
>>
>>733713412
The only problem with the Wii U Era was Nintendo clearly had growing pains transitioning to HD game development.
MS and Sony already went through those growing pains in the previous gen but Nintendo was basically still using GameCube tech with the Wii.
>>
>>733715950
True it requires modding and you're just playing it in a virtual wii anyway so it's worse than a real wii.
>>
>>733715892
By modern standards, that's actually pretty good. God, shit's gotten bad.
>>
>>733715995
>Nintendo clearly had growing pains transitioning to HD game development.
Their growing pains were self inflicted laziness. All they got ready for launch was a DS game displayed in 720p and a mini game collection. Pretending microsoft or sony even had half the problems nintendo did is the most insane position to take.
>>
>>733713412
Nintendo Land was just THAT good.
>>
>>733713559
this. I had a Wii U and it was a pain in the ass to keep charged, despite the decent early line-up.
>>
>>733713559
If you ever see anyone prop up the Wii U era, just assume they're a snoy.
>>
>>733713561
>>Exclusive library was actually pretty good
The library was full of filler and killer apps only started coming in 2 years after the launch. Wii U was dire.
>>
>>733718292
>killer apps only started coming in 2 years after the launch
And they were literal sequels to handheld shovelware.
>>
>>733717235
Nah, Metroid Blast was great but the rest were kinda boring.
>>
it was the last console nintendo put out that didn't try to completely and utterly rip you off
>>
It was the last era before the minimalist Switch. It has a place in my heart but it sucked.
>>
>>733716878
No it’s not good even by today’s standards
>>
Mario Maker was better on Wii U because you had less retards creating gimmick levels, better quality control
>>
>>733718836
Nintendo was better during the Wii U / 3DS era. No performative, fake fans. Nintendo's soul died with Iwata.
>>
>>733713412
all the good switch games were on wiiu first.
>>
>>733719007
>No performative, fake fans.
What the fuck is a fake tendie? What qualifies to be one?
>>
>>733713412
and yet this is more games than the switch 2 has

Because people are trying to jump on it thinking its legacy will be remembered just like the Gamecube.
>>
>>733719746
Pn03 will never be good abib

i was younger and my hairline had yet to begun receding

I remember Nintendo land being fun as fuck. Game and wario too actually. (Even if bootleg pictionary was basically the most fun on it)
>>
>>733713412
I have very fond memories of the Wii U, but I don't miss that era very much. The only thing I truly miss is the e-shop and how varied and nice the menus were. Plus when I didn't have a PC for a year, the internet browser saved my ass. Kinda miss watching Youtube and browsing 4chan at the same time on it.
>>
>>733719746
people that didn't sit through the gamecube or wii u droughts first hand will have a higher opinion of them. owning a gamecube at the time, it sorta sucked. the ps2 was way better and the dreamcast was getting more good games at a faster cadence than the gamecube did.
>>
>>733720203
The GCN did suck, but I think the Wii U was far worse. And if I had to pick between owning either console today I'd easily go with the Gamecube. I owned a Wii U when new and all I could think about was how much better the Wii and GCN were comparatively. The 6th gen was also far more competitive than the 8th gen.
>>
>>733720756
i never owned a wii u personally so i never got to experience that drought for myself. but being a nintendo gamer was suffering for a long while imo, the n64, gamecube, and even wii were pretty grim in comparison to everything else and you needed a gameboy/ds to fill in all the gaps.
>>
>>733720203
gamecube drought wasnt so bad since other good games were still coming out on other consoles.
wiiu i skipped the early drought but even still there just werent any good games coming out from anyone at the time, so it was especially bad.

Thread reeks of samefag. Foul shit.
>>
>>733720756
I got it when the ZombiU bundle came out, got a lot of games and though the drought was palpable I had other consoles and a lot of stuff to do to make up for it, I really liked the WiiU even with all its weird design decisions, I still use it sporadically I don't own any CRTs and I can't use older consoles.
>>
>>733721289
I owned one and it was pretty bad. The only notable things during the Wii U's lifecycle were Smash, which kinda sucked and maybe Super Mario Maker. That was kind of it. The rest of the console's lifespan was Iwata coping.
>>733721303
This. Gaming in general has been pretty shit since around 2010 or so. Gaming essentially cratered after the recession.
>>733721816
What dude, you don't remember that?
>>
I enjoy reading these threads because people look at things from a more natural perspective than going OLD GOOD NEW BAD.
>>
>>733713412
Because they weren't there. If they were they would have been annoyed with the Switch's early catalog being propped up by Wii U ports.
>>
>>733723778
Too bad it's rare. I'm praying we get another Cloudflare outage like the one we had a few months ago. This board actually felt good to post in for the couple of hours the servers were down.
>>
>>733724074
What? I understand dislking the Switch for that reason but why would that explain the hate for the WiiU.
>>
>>733713561
>Tons of personality in the hardware
This is an interesting cope for just admitting it sucks
>>
>>733724074
The Switch wasn't positioning itself as a successor to the Wii U, it was a replacement. The mistake was releasing the Wii U at all.
>>
>>733713561
>>The progenitor of the UMPC/Hybrid handheld via the gamepad
You can't even play with it if you're too far away from the console, the only thing they have in-common is size. The PSP is ironically closer to a Switch since it can connect to a TV pretty easily.
>>733726534
The concept isn't even that original, it's just the DS and Wii mashed into one.
>>
>>733724074
No one cared about the ports because no one owned a Wii U. They were practically new games to anyone who wasn't the most rabid tendie diehard.
And the funny thing is that they controlled better without the gamepad which just shows how pointless the whole thing was.
>>
>>733727072
I agree with the other anon, tho it doesn't mean that I think it was perfect, from the very first time I used the gamepad I kept thinking it would be perfect if I could just take it anywhere, same like Wii felt like proto VR, the WiiU is the precursor to the Switch, Deg and Ally.
>>
>>733719746
>There are people that are unironically nostalgic for the Wii U era
I don't hate the WiiU, but people that miss this era either were not cognitive enough to realize just how dire the era was or repeat the shit spewed from the people who weren't cognitive because they have no opinion of their own.
>>
Wii U babies are old enough to pretend their childhood was the good old days
>>
>>733713412
Better than the Switch 2 library already kek
