Every now and then I see some right wingers people complaining there's no "games for them" (personally I think not playing a game because it doesn't fit your exact ideology is a bit stupid but that's beside the point), but wouldn't it be possible for studios focusing on these to exist?There's things like this for movies, books and music and they are much bigger than they used to be, touching all type of genre and style. Why wouldn't it be possible for a game studio like this to be made if it works for movie, books and music?The only reason would be that the people with money in these spheres hate video games. But why is that? I don't think it's the case for the other political sides, it's very strange to me.

>>733714926I think it's because the west coast cities become the entertainment hub, so the big game studios tend to be located there, and the people there tend to be left-leaning. I feel the same about TV and movies. There's games, movies, and shows with right wing sensibilities coming out but they are from studios much smaller than the WestCoast cities so they get drowned out. Often times, games also try to emulate movies which are dominated by Hollywood, resulting in Cali-coded writing, even by devs who don't care one way or the other. They're just emulating the big movies or current big shows.

I think people focus too much on politics on not on their creativity. Nothing is stopping anyone from being creative no matter what. I'm not a right winger but I don't see why right winger couldn't make games, and I'm sure some could bring interesting ideas if they are creative about it

Oh, i would love to do THAT but i what are my designers going to say? What are my industry peers are going to say? What are my friends and family going to say? What is the press going to say? So everything gets sanded down and only the most acceptable designs make it into the game.

Marketing, designers, publisher and the board of creative leads all have to support the vision, or at least not oppose it. And that is if the project lead himself isn't swayed by other peoples opinions. Especially when we're talking about social issues. Imagine anyone making a GTA-like and LGBT characters either don't exist or only exist to be mocked. Multiple strip clubs and brothels for the player to visit and every female character is actually hot and dressed like in a 2000s music video. That kind of game just wouldn't get funded today.
