>Game has a whole lore library. >It's the most generic shit possible.Do Califags not have a single original idea?
>>733715127unique interesting ideas are created, then they slowley get trimmed and shredded down by a team of 600 people with 20 bosses, until at the end a once interesting idea becomes generic and ''marketable'' for ''general audiences''
Also why does every game dev move to Cali? It's a fucking desert with high rent.
An intergalactic UPS courier transvestite is a pretty original idea

https://concord.wiki.gg/wiki/DaVeers>DaVeers was born and raised in a salt-processing factory town on Glance. When I think of salt as a resource, I just think of Chapter 3 from Super Meat Boy.>They hated the two scorching suns. The idea of a planet with two suns is neat, but clearly the character being non-binary is more important.>The heat was so intense it was nearly impossible to stay upright, so they took refuge in the factories where their parents worked. This is worded weirdly, it makes it seem like DaVeers chose to not die from heat stroke as if there was some other alternative.>They were fascinated by the chemical reactions that were part of the salt fuel production process, and they begged their parents to teach them how to work with chemicals. Do we get any more information about DaVeers' relationship with her parents? Nope. So why even mention them?>The moments they were allowed to add the reactant to a batch of fuel were the moments they lived for. The rest was misery.Ignoring how awful this prose is, it implies that DaVeers is some sort of pyromaniac, when her main weapon is toxic chemicals. >Without fresh water, and without enough food, the people in town were far too hungry and far too sick for anything other than wretchedness. How did Glance survive in the first place then? An entire population collectively decided to be miserable?>They were barely holding on–and then a swarm of toxic sun beetles descended on town.Cool, nice. So let's just disregard everything we established to focus on pest extermination. The rest of the lore dump is like this by the way, you get no insight into DaVeers' mindset, just that they just kill bugs and are respected for it. Who cares!? The end half-heartedly mentions they like to bake cookies, which would be an okay trait if it had ANYTHING to do with the background story rather than being some little tidbit thrown in for no reason.
>The end half-heartedly mentions they like to bake cookies, which would be an okay trait if it had ANYTHING to do with the background story rather than being some little tidbit thrown in for no reason. It's the epitome of lazy "millennial" writing. Want to make a character relatable? Have a part of their personality revolve around food. Everybody loves food! Why do you think the original trailer featured Hot Sauce Guy™?
>>733715315>ups courier>IN SPACEnot that original
>>733716224If you really want some cringe, read Vale's biography. >She was calm, cool and collected because... she just was, okay?>But there was a really tough battle and she got her legs blown off, KWAB>*Multiple paragraphs about being a paraplegic*>All of this is fine though because "their ship was a melting pot of cultures, customs, and FOODS." Besides linking back to another Freegunner, Daw, her story is less about her as a person than it is an excuse to write about a cripple and score more DEI points.
Still some of the dumbest shit I've ever read>Let's develop spy bots to infiltrate the Sparked Robots(TM)!>Okay, what do they look like?>...dunno, just put some clothes on the droid, I guess...
and the classic
NOOOO, NOT THE.....uh, FRUIT SORTING!
And then everyone died - THE END
>>733715127I'm honestly stunned how uncreative Western gamedevs are now.
>>733715127Game dev here the issue is in search of the almighty DEI they pigeonhole the worst types of people into certain projects because they are the easiest. Do you know why UIs are bad and they are going overboard with accessibility options? DEI hires work on those and it's why every multiplayer main screen looks like a Netflix abortion. It's why community managers, 99% of them are irritating, condescending and hate their community. It's why game stories are mostly shit. Because they show the DEI black woman or tranny and they want to shove so much social politics in it. I will never understand why they don't just hire someone that writes sci fi novels of which many talented woman exist if they want to maintain that DEI. Story is the cheapest way to keep people engaged with a live service product and yet they fuck this up over and over. Imagine if these games had compelling stories which help you look forward to the next content drop the same way a good TV show does but nope they fuck this up all the time
>>733718054>>733718102>>733718194>>733718448Holy crap. It's amazing they thought this game would do well.
writers are cancer, the more writers the worse the game, it’s also where you dump all the DEIs
>>733718054>>733718102>>733718194>"The Guild" >Special Operations Corporation >Rummaging Corporation >Guild guards protecting the interests of random corporations >Corps can straight up deport you Desu this doesn't sound like hyper capitalism, this sounds like Soviet communism. In real life mega-corporations are all over the place. Honeywell makes cluster bombs and guidance systems for ICBMs, but also mundane domestic products like thermostats and humidifiers. Disney makes movies, music, books, but also runs parks, licenses toys, and all sorts of other shit. Investment firms have their fingers in as many things as possible. Meanwhile here you have corporations with extremely narrow scopes, all of which are overseen by various secretariats of a centralized organization, who apparently is also the main police / military force.
no you don't understand Baz is really good with box cutters because she works at amazon and shes a bad bitch with an attitude
