It runs everything better than Switch 2 does, is a similar price with the digital version, actually has some Free to Play games (which softens the blow) and will have GTA6 on it which Switch 2 wont. Nintendo doesn't want to accept the only reason people buy their shit is for their games. Even now, with the awful software sales, only 25% of all games sold on Switch 2 were third party and that amounts to 9 million units across every title. Breath of the Wild did a fuck ton of heavy lifting for Switch 1 and it wouldn't have been a success without it. We're seeing that with the Switch 2. Also, Nintendo's strategy of announcing things close to release is biting them in the ass. People clowned on Sony for showing the same games at E3, but at least you knew some games were coming. For Nintendo, we have no idea what's coming in the holidays and its almost March. They need to swallow their price, adjust the price, and tease fucking anything.

PS5 on the other hand is over 5 years old now and is actually on the decline (down 17% from Jan 2025). So Switch losing to it suggest Switch 2's momentum in the US is slowing pretty significantly.

All Switch 2 pumped out was another lousy Mario Kart rendition and a pretty decent Donkey Kong game. Not having a 3rd sequel to Breath Wild/Tears of the kingdom as a launch title was a huge mistake.
