This game is actually pretty good. Even if I read the book before. It's not just a retelling of the book, you can actually have a good ending for once.There are some sour spots, however. Interaction fucking sucks, you usually click to "talk to", and then it changes to "walk to" and you walk around doing nothing. There's also 100 ways to fuck yourself over into a bad ending. Some scenarios are pretty easy to get the good ending for, but others are easy to get any other ending but the good one. So in a sense, this is a game where you should't experiment too far. Example: in Gorrister's chapter, you can get an unintended ending by just walking towards the desert. There's no prompt to confirm or anything. Walk BAM ending.
In this case its "humans suck". Very common sci fi trope.
For anyone wondering how this game works, it's an adventure where you can choose 5 different people at first, each one with a different adventure. Depending on what you do during their chapter, you can get a variety of endings and variations thereof. There is only one good ending for each chapter. After you complete all 5 chapters, you can go into the final chapter with any of the 5 people. This is a pretty short game, but spoiler anyway: the intended choice is the doctor.Like said above, it's not a retelling of the book, although it uses the same themes and characters. There is a character from another of Ellison's books (Surgat). During the final chapter, there are a lot of ending variations, but most of them end up the same as the book - only one character remains and he/she gets turned into that blob thing. The real ending is pretty different from the book's.
